After listening to MARZ 6th  album Revelation it makes you think about how much trial and tribulations of struggle he must have went through to make such a spiritual record. For those who followed his illustrious career, you know that each album chronicles that moment in time in his life so when this was released on 11/11/11 many were curious to see what Marz had to say about his Revelation. Reviews came in some were 50/50 about his new outlook on life, some embraced it, and some hated it. This is my personal review and opinion on it and I will start off by saying that im happy for anyone who finds purpose in this crazy world we live in and I can tell that Marz truly has found his way.

Revelation starts off with Bubble Gum that has a hard-hitting production that will not only get your speakers bumping but also get your mind open for the musical journey that you are about to embark on. Marz speaks on hard hitting topics while maintaining his spiritual message, including the line “ There’s only one great, and you are not him”

Beautiful music opens up with Marz telling us that the pain makes beautiful music which couldn’t be more true a lot of great artists have made fantastic albums based off the pain they gone through. Matrix which shows off Marz lyrical prowess over a very dope beat, in my opinion for those who really love the sound of mainstream artists like Rick Ross and Belly, this will be the one you will bump and still get a more positive message out of than most crap on the radio. Marz is at war here with the demons and devils of the world and uses his words to defeat them. The next record was a record that some of you may have heard already titled “GO” this was the lead off single that a lot of people were starting to really dislike Marz new direction for music but I get what he’s trying to do and from the first jump you can appreciate that he’s growing more and more as a person and since this is his job he really has no choice but to express it through music and does a good job doing so.

Run has second single and music video written all over it in my personal opinion. The song has such a powerful message and deserves to be heard and Mars paints a picture perfect story here that is too good for any music lover to overlook. The production is top notch and the writing is absolutely flawless, this to me is the greatest song of Marz career. Anthony Gomez sings a stunning hook on the song The Way, combined with Mars lyrics about his past and how he’s overcome the evils of the world at the crossroads and found the light again the man is spiritual now but the flows are still there and the vivid lyricism is there and you have to respect it.

The middle of the album has another standout record which is called “The real me” which features another hook from Anthony Gomez and really has me looking forward to hearing some more from him in the future. The real me most certainly should be the third single, you can tell that there is a strong 2pac influence in Marz flow and story telling ability here and that is not a bad thing at all. “Get it popping” is a club DJ’s wet dream the production is so heavy that no matter where it’s dropped it will get the dance floor packed and people will wild out.

Where did the music go is a question Marz asks on the record which is a record I can really relate to because I don’t listen to the radio anymore and really don’t buy CD’s from artists that I don’t care for as I used to when I was younger. Man Up is a Chi Town street banger, I can see a video being done for this record that will be big on the underground for sure and anyone questioning Marz new musical direction will quickly be steered into that direction as well.

Hallelujah is another standout song especially since it is done in the same vein as Rick Ross “ BMF “ but takes a completely opposite look of that song and flips it. Anthony Gomez appears again on the final song “ Goodbye” which is the perfect way to close such a solid album; over a beat that if it goes down as Marz final song ever released it will remain in your head forever. Lyrically Marz bows out gracefully from his past and resurrects as a new man.

I personally enjoyed this record because I have followed Marz since his days with Dark Lotus which made me get into all of his work to follow and seeing and hearing him grow as a person through his music is a revelation itself and is a great thing to see that he is happy that he has found not only himself but he has found his sound.
