Big Hoodoo’s first single and video ‘Hexed’ drops

Well we have waited for it and the video has finally arrived. First let me say that I personally have mixed feelings about this so far.  I like the idea itself, and it fits well on Psychopathic Records so I think it will do well.  Although we all know Big Hoodoo is none other than Doe Dubbla from the last Psypher video, I think he did a pretty damn good job of playing the character.

Honest opinion, I hope that the rest of the album is good overall. I like the song itself, don’t get me wrong, but the whole project seems a bit…rushed? Maybe it will grow on me like Boondox, ABK, heck even Twiztid wasn’t well received when they started on the label.  We Juggalos are a hard bunch to be accepted by when it comes to our music. We shall see what else the entity known a Big Hoodoo has in store for us when the album Crystal Skulls drops, July 2, 2013.

By the way, anybody else a bit curious as to why the album has no pre order yet? Or that Big Hoodoo hasn’t been added to Hatchetgear…

The album probably isn’t finished yet, and as for him not being on hatchetgear–why are boondox and twiztid still on there? I don’t think it so much has to do with the artist themself per-say, just merch, they prolly don’t wanna print up a shit load of big hoodoo merch then have him bomb and it’s wasted effort. As for the song, fuckin love it. This single just sold me on the album. I’m buyin mine up soon as it drops.

I personally think he kinda sounds like a cross between Blaze and Jumpsteady with his voice and flow.. I still don’t know how I feel about this video though, I think the song is alright but something about the video just makes me feel..uncomfortable? lol does anyone else get an odd feeling from watching this?

    answer
my guess is it will be up for pre-order once the 50% sale ends monday.

if you remember when they had that sale when the legz cd was up for pre-order they took down the cd after a day into the sale and then put it back up later after sale

Ill check the rest of the album before I truly form an opinion,id give the song and video a 7/10.The video wasnt cheap and green screened out.Thats a plus.Song was laced with some wicked shit,Sounds like something Violent J wrote.Which coming from VJ woulda been some dope verses,But coming from dubbla they seemed forced like he’s playing a character but doesnt realy beleive it at times.if that makes sense…But I dont totaly fucking hate it,Which is a good sign that in time it might grow on me.

Just not feeling it.. I can see potential though, like other people said it does seem forced, and im not convinced its doe dubbla because his verse in psypher4 was fresh, plus he sounded different and seemed bigger in that video..
. I think it was also a bad move to introduce a new artist through a video, videos are very vulnerable and can actually make songs worse, maybe im weird but I dont think I really enjoy music videos until I enjoy the artist. I mean we didnt get a twiztid video until freekshow, they were in another love song but just jumped around lol and hell the only blaze video I remember seeing is that newish dub sack one, im sure he had another but from what the undying or even later? Im just saying I think an ep or something would have been the way to go to introduce him to us.
And why does everything have to be a gimmick!? I mean yeah obviously icp, blaze , boondocks, abk.. All fresh. But what about twiztid? What’s their gimmick? Not shit they’re just fresh and on some wicked shit. Esham, same thing- he kinda has that unholy thing but it didnt really come across as a gimmick, and I’ve just recently got into some amb, that young wicked moxtape particularly, and same, no gimmick just good.. So saying that I think a forced sounding gimmick is just slap in the face, not trying to hate; just my opinion. WOOP WOOP!

This album is obviously gonna be heavily influenced by VJ, guaranteed this shit is dope and yall are gonna be hounddoggin hoodoo at the gotj.

yo he aint gangsta enough….all psychopathic artists are always half gangsta except boondox (because hes from the country) but big hoodoo is from the city…and as for liking this song and video its all about opinion and personal taste…i mean i dont like it, whats so entertaining about a guy pretending hes a voodoo master and the hook was just straight lazy though “boo! bitch get scared” unless hes gearing toward little kids i dont know what crowd would like that and how unthought out is that too….but one point thats been made repeatedly here that i like is that this is indeed his introduction and he has a FULL ALBUM coming out that im sure has all different flavored tracks on it…cant wait til someone uploads them on youtube so we can all listen to it for free lol

    answer
Whats so entertaining about guys who pretend to be wicked clownz, serial killers, scarecrows, dead homies or even fake gangsters?
    question
why does everything have to be a gimmick!?
    answer
Because that’s what psychopathic is all about gimmicks
    question
What about twiztid? What’s their gimmick?
    answer
they lean towards a serial killer gimmick.

to be honest im not fully sold on big hoodoo gimmick, but then again im in favor of good music more than the gimmick.

what your failing to realize is i was just answering question. everyone has their own opinions.

one point i have to make is, as you said, “the mystical murdering side of psychopathic records” that’s in a fair guess is 75% of what psychopathic is about.

i wouldn’t call myself a hardcore juggalo. i don’t whoop whoop, mcl, paint my face or even call other juggalos fam.

and ill keep my mouth shut on the whole family thing.

I think the Big Hoodoo gimmick will take a minute to grow on people, much like Boondox & ABK. But this is a new act/gimmick its fresh like Boondox’s character, brings somethin new to the table, and has a really awesome sound. I hope that Big Hoodoo doesn’t flop.

I just flat out disagree with that post, gimmicks are relevant to psy. But in no way is it their “thing”, as stated esham, amb, project born, twiztid , do not have gimmicks. Twiztids “serial killla” gimmick is no different than eshams “unholy gimmick”, sure its a somewhat reoccurring thing they hint towards but compared to blaze or icp it is hardly a solid gimmick. (and im pretty sure they dont “say it on so many songs” its on alot of merch but im having a hard time thinking of more than a handful of songs where they say it, from a band that’s 15 years old, i wouldn’t say its that relevant.) on that note- im gonna smoke a bowl and give this big hoodoo fellow another try

I think it’s definitely wicked. The song isn’t bad, it’s actually pretty good. The only thing I’m worried about is getting into Big Hoodoo
and then just to watch him leave a year from now. This happened with Boondox for me. Just as I was giving it a listen- and then getting into it- he left.

But I like this. And I think this can stand on it’s own in the Juggalo world as long as it stays around for a long time. I mean, if Big Hoodoo quits in a year, I mean, who will even remember or care?

Video is fresh! Dudes a cool mother fucka too, my girl and i chilled with him for a good minute at last years gathering, he gave us a free cd of his. Just sayin’ he’s down to earth. There’s alota haters on here not even giving it a chance, reminds me of people hating on juggalos for no reason just being closed minded. On a diffrent note, I noticed that in Clays new mix tape, in the liners he thanks all of the psychopathic roster first, and the features last. Myzerys thanked along with the psychopathic roster, so I’m thinkin’ that he’s the second artist to be signed (for a second time)? Just my thoughts on it

Twiztids gimmick is ghouls, serial killin’ “ghouls” they have said it plenty of times. Maby some of you are newer to the scean, and just don’t know about it, but that’s what they came up with when they decided on the face paint and said it in more then one interview, I remember a murder dog interview, and correct me if I’m wrong, but I think they say it in the dvd that came with either mans myth or mutant, the one with the documenty of theyr hystory

Face paint isn’t really a gimmick though, at least not in the sense of blaze and shit like I keep saying, they dont have a ‘backstory’ or any of that. And I’ve been around since ’99 fool lol. Maybe I just have a different association with the word gimmick?

i like the song and doe dubbla is always the shit. my problem with it is that there is no element of surprise like there was when PSY signed Boondox. we all already knew who Doe Dubbla was before this. it’s not like it was a discovered talent that we weren’t too familiar with.

i think they rushed this CD because they wanted to put it out before the Gathering so they’d have something new to promote.

Well actually if you want to get technical scarface srappy, Drive-By was resigned this year, and so was Legz Diamond, so they would be the first two artists signed (if you want to count the resigning of DB). I dont think they rushed it, because I’m sure they worked on the Big Hoodoo character for about a year. Then worked and recorded Crystal Skull. I bet the album has been done since around February or March. So in my opinion, I dont think this album is rushed, and I think it’ll be pretty good.
