The R.O.C. debuts “Digital Voodoo” Music Video; Interview via Myspace(!!!)

Today’s a HUGE day for our homie The R.O.C.!  As said earlier, his new album Digital Voodoo is officially out, and he’s got a brand new music video for the title track that was just released too.  Hell, even Myspace conducted an interview with him!

In the interview, they ask him to define “digital voodoo”, his inspirations behind the album, his experience with Juggalos, and lots more!  You can read the full interview below.

From Myspace.com:

The new album is titled Digital Voodoo. Define “digital voodoo” for us, what it entails, and if you’ve ever engaged in it?

The album title is representative of the crazy Digital age we live in. The Voodoo is the music that will put that spell on you when you hear it.

Practicing it … I can neither confirm nor deny that.

What was going on in your life that inspired the content of the album?

At that time I was thinking big, eclectic. I wanted to engage in the Digital realms, and hit ’em all up with that Voodoo music.

Being that you’re a veteran emcee, what do you feel you were able to do artistically on Digital Voodoo that maybe you haven’t done before, or hadn’t perfected before?

I was able to just focus on writing lyrics. I didn’t have to focus on all the album’s production, promotion, etc. etc.

The album shows a growth from any other projects I’ve done.

The video for the title track has some intense imagery. What ideas are you looking to get across with this clip?

That I can spit.

I’m not the same dude you are used to seeing.

Also, I’m having fun with it, but at the same time it’s not a game. I am more serious about the craft than I’ve ever been.

You’ve been associated with ICP for over two decades. I imagine you’ve seen a lot during that time, and performed at your fair share of Gatherings. What’s been the most beautiful moment you’ve experienced at a Gathering of the Juggalos?

I have had some pretty cool times, but my fondest moment was performing at my first Gathering of the Juggalos in 2016. I know everyone is probably like, “What?” [laughs] but I had never been asked before that to do the Gathering of the Juggalos. It was awesome being up there performing for the fam. What a night.

Finally, I’ve heard quite a few stories about crazy nights on the road with ICP. Give us a story about a wild night you look back on and can’t believe you survived.

I can’t remember where we were, but we are all on stage on one of ICP’s last songs. Juggalos started to rush up in the celebrations, and we were pinned to the back of the stage. Bodies were everywhere. Then all of a sudden the sea of Juggalos start to part, and it’s (Psychopathic Records President and CEO) Billy (Bill) pushing through to rescue us!

I had a blast that day. Pure pandemonium, but fun!

The album is dope as fuck. I have to agree this really isn’t the same R.O.C. ya may be used too. A few songs I was eh on until the hook, and then I could just roll with it until the song was over. Give it a peep is my opinion.
