Icons Of Horrorcore announced for 2017 Gathering of the Juggalos

On the Official ICP Facebook, they made a big announcement today concerning this year’s lineup for the Gathering of the Juggalos!

They were announced as the “Icons of Horrorcore”, and includes separate performances by:

  • Cage
  • Necro
  • September Mourning
  • Brotha Lynch Hung

That’s a pretty impressive announcement in itself!  I’m more surprised that Psychopathic and Necro worked out a deal, but am glad that it happened!

Not much later, we got the full details from InsaneClownPosse.com.  Check that out below:

Cage, Brotha Lynch Hung, September Mourning, and Necro Added to the Gathering Lineup!

Who’s ready for the fucking wicked shit in this bitch?

Time to get wicked and dance in the blood splatter as it showers down in all abandon.

Witness the four new devastating artists added to the GOTJ Lineup:

The Illest Four Letter Word Himself…master of dark and deadly flows…the one…the only…underground rap legend Cage Kennylz, making his GOTJ debut!

Then we got Strange Music’s own master of the Dark Arts…Mannibal Lector, the Coathanga Strangla, and truly the innovator of horrorcore as we know and love it: BROTHA LYNCH HUNG!

Then, she is beautiful as she is deadly. With her band that will have you murdering and marauding in the pit…The Juggalo Family welcomes the black widow herself…September Mourning!

And what horrorcore line-up would be complete without the Godfather of Gore…the one and the only…NECRO!

Feel the blood rain down as true horror and terror finds its new home…right here at the Gathering of the Juggalos!

Stay tuned for more artists dropping soon. Whoop whoop!

BLH, Necro and Cage at the Gathering is pretty cool. But damn, they have Insane Poetry playing the Gathering, yet don’t include him in the Icons Of Horrorcore line-up? What a shame.. And fucking September Mourning being on this list before IP is just kicking him when he’s down..

Guess you can add Necro to the ever growing list of avaricious snakes that will only play for us if there’s a paycheck in it for them. Provide for your family all you want but you got a whole other family to think about too, without us Necro’s back to working at the car wash and stealing pennies from people’s ashtrays to buy Ramen Noodles.

Where’s Luccem when you need him? This comment is the perfect example of why guys like him assume Juggalos to be entitled and ignorant, even evoking the percise arguments and talking points used to reach that conclusion. No disrespect intended my dude, but a lot of what you’re saying is cookie-cutter ‘Juggalo Reasoning’ that is not only stereotypical but also factually incorrect. So to tackle a few of these straight away:

“He’s only in it for Juggashekels” meme- This gets said a lot about rappers with a Juggalo following, but there’s some truth to it in this case. The crux of it is, Necro’s been pretty transparent about his relationship with Juggalos/his business dealings with Psychopathic, and made it clear that he’s not a rapper who does this to not make money. Not everyone in the entertainment industry is like Kung Fu Vampire, who will do Gatherings at cost out of love; but instead of celebrating the freshness of that exceptional behavior ninjas have an expectation that everyone with a Juggalo audience should be that way and fuck them if they don’t. This is not only wholly divorced from the reality of business, it’s also why people call us entitled.

“He owes his career to us! Without Juggalos x ain’t shit!” meme- God, I hate this reasoning. Hate hate hate, because it’s typically fucking wrong and here is no exception. Here’s a little underground history:

In the early 2000s, Necro aided in the production of the Nonphixion album The Future is Now, which is considered a classic in underground hiphop and was the launchpad for Ill Bill’s solo career. This increased Necro’s visibility as well, and while Juggalos did discover him around this time, he also gained traction in straight up hiphop circles. He maintains a substantial following in Europe and most notably Australia, where the culture thrives as a different animal altogether, although both do have a Juggalo undercurrent just like in America. The point is, while Juggalos are intrinsically tied to the sister culture of underground hiphop, we are NOT the be-all-end-all that we’d like to think we are. You can be successful in that lane without Juggalo support, and many are, but when somebody gains visibility with us we fail to recognize that they might have other fans and reach other demographics. That’s called not being able to see past your nose.

Points well made I’ll give you that. My whole ‘pennies at the car wash’ comment was more tongue-in-cheek than anything.
I just find it odd how you can be all about the money AND be underground. If your main motivation is cash then go make Top 40 singles or license your music to Toyota commercials. You’re not making cheddar down here with us. You’re underground because you’re smart enough to make a career out of turning people on at 19 or 20 years old and knowing those same people will be buying your shit at 39 or 40.
‘Please Hammer Don’t Hurt em’ sold how many millions of copies? And people forgot about Hammer in no time, then he was broke almost just as fast. How many ICP Vinnie’s does Hammer have? 0.
I might come off as being jaded but it’s more that I always looked at us as different than any other fan because we helped create a universe where we call the shots as to who makes it and who doesn’t, look at the list of bands that should’ve went over huge at GOTJ but got the Bubba Sparx treatment. Most people nerd out with 1 or 2 bands, we do it with enough bands to make a 4 day cavalcade out of it.
Honestly, any band other than ICP would do fine without us, but it’d be alot harder.

Necro said that he is now “dealing directly with J and Jumpsteady, not the other person, and they came correct” (my guess is he, as well as many others, has been working with Billy Bill). But hopefully he will get back on the March, and hopefully they can get a tour with him. I’d like to see ICP, KFV, BLH and Necro go out on tour. Hope they finally drop the damn GOTJ infomercial though. Shits gettin annoying.

I could care less about the infomercial. Thing is usually dumb as hell. Feel like I’m watching an oxyclean commercial.
