My high school was weird as shit. Gay as shit but still good as shit. Nobody cared about that kinda shit. Dudes would scrap and we had gang problems. I've lived in a one room apartment where I had too share a bathroom and a kitchen with strangers, including a pedophile, a recovering alcoholic turned tv addict, a chronic alcoholic shit starter, and a couple that had the guy beating his woman. There was blood on the toilet seat. Mice chewed my hair at night. Landlord raised my rent without telling me by $10 Then tried to say I didn't pay my rent in full (had to scream at him in order to fix it). The pedophile was jerking off behind his door once when I came home from washing dishes at a chicken shack. The drunk berated me claiming I took too long of a shower (45 minutes to him, it was actually around 4 minutes). . . I also have slept on benches and inside library archways. . . I lived in a tent for a week and caught Lyme disease from a tick and it just about ruined me.

I'll take Violent J's basement any day.
