Last night while after the show I heard something I thought I wouldn’t hear, a security guard applauding what they had just seen. He also said how he liked the way Psychopathic flew into the House of Blues under the radar as Dark Lotus and not ICP, Twiztid, or Blaze. Now I know that I have said before I would not ever go back to the House of Blues after what had happened during the Kottonmouth Kings show that rolled through there, but think about it: Dark Lotus was there. Fuck what I said before. Along side with the five all-time greats, there was Haystack with Big Smo, and DJ Clay spinning with JCW’s 2tough Tony and the champ himself, Corporal Robinson.

First up was Haystack with his hype-man/homie Big Smo holding it down rocking the crowd to get hyped up for Dark Lotus. If you went to GOTJ last year or have been following the websites at all in the past months since then you’ve probably heard of this guy. If not then get out of your rock and peep it out. These two are some Crazy White Boys and show it in every line, every rhyme, and every time they hit the stage. I liked the rhymes he kicked and the way he could connect with the audience. “We gotta club full of juggalos!” is what he changed his line to from one of his closing songs “Car full of White Boys”.

I don’t know what had happened but the original bill was supposed to include DL, The R.O.C., Wolfpac, DJ Clay, and Haystack. For some reason or another two of those names weren’t there last night to flip some wigs. I had heard that The R.O.C. was sick or something like that and the Wolfpac’s transportation had broken down or something along those lines. Either way whatever may have really happened to keep both of those acts out of the building kind of pissed me off. But hey if you’re sick and your ride is broken down then I guess you just can’t do a show.

Aside from all of that the show must go on! So out came DJ Clay spinning the treacherous, tables of titanium and demanded the crowd bust into a giant juggalo mosh-pit to the beat of “We Don’t Die”. Shortly there after out came 2Tough Tony and Corporal Robinson both holding some merchandise to distribute amongst the crowd of eager fans waiting to snatch whatever it was out of the air with the quickness. Then the pit expanded, split down the middle and as the two JCW stars were running back and forth and stage switching sides, the crowd went with it and switched sides on each other. It looked like the “Sub Noize Rats” video but crazier. Clay even played two new tracks off of ‘Let ’em Bleed vol.2′ slated to come out on July 7, 2008.

The turntables stopped spinning and the ground began to shake. An eerie calm overtook the crowd and we were greeted by the Brotherhood Opaque. The stage set was pretty wicked itself. With gargoyles and an old fashioned bridge it looked like for them to switch off on to be standing. Five petals of the Lotus had spread and were finally in full bloom for all to see. One by one they took the stage each with an equally devastatingly, wicked looking mask. Each as wicked as the last yet individual in its own way. Like a monsterous version to their crossed-painted faces without the need of paint, definitely fresh. The tracks they did were from all of the Lotus albums. The list was their freshest, darkest, best flowing tracks, in my opinion.

Opaque Brotherhood Intro

Juggalo Family

When the beat for “Withered” hit I knew that time was coming, the end. Something I didn’t want to have happen. The set shouldn’t have ended because the last time Lotus toured was on the Hatchet Rising Tour, I think. But other than that any other time you want to see DL it’s once a year on Opening Ceremony night at GOTJ. Then after “Withered” came “Juggalo Family” the two best tracks you could close a night with. The vibe from the crowd and the group was all off the chain. FAMILY could describe it, but not close enough, we were like one big ass person with hundreds of heads.

Definitely go check this out if you have not had the chance yet, if not because you liked the latest albums then do it for the chance to see Dark Lotus; ICP, Twiztid, and Blaze all on the stage together.
