Anybody Killa is a familiar name to many underground music fans, most notably for his affiliation with Psychopathic Records as both a solo artist, and group member of Dark Lotus, and Psychopathic Rydas amongst others. In February of 2006, he parted ways with the popular record label, and has been venturing out on his own ever since.

ABK didn’t achieve the level of success he did, based solely on his past affiliations. To even get signed in the first place, you know the boy had to have some level of skill. Once you get over the lisp, which by now everyone already has, you will see why he was able to build, and still maintain quite a loyal fan base.

The sad reality however, is that if he was still with that record label, this release would be a much bigger deal than it is. An attempt to capitalize on everybody’s favorite holiday, at least anyone who works on this site. The Orange Black CD is short and sweet, doesn’t pretend to be anything it’s not, and wouldn’t make a bad soundtrack for your I-Pod while you’re trick or treating.

The beats are nothing spectacular, but they suit the theme and mood just fine. As far as guest appearances go, Detroit Warriors come off sounding real good here, and Strict and Flagrant don’t hurt themselves any either. I understand the whole Orange and Black thing, but if he was going to do that, I feel he should have gone all out, and at least release six tracks per disc, instead of only four.

“Graveyard Shift” is a good start, and the insanely catchy chorus, will have “I like to chill with the dead” stuck in your head all damn day. “Snatches Bitches” is a humorous tale of a grown man stealing Halloween candy that made me chuckle. “Sorry” and “Where the Demons Stay” are two other highlights.

The Bottom Line: If you were one of those fans, who loyally listened to anything Psychopathic Records released, regardless of whether or not you really were feeling it, then you probably would be better off skipping this. However if you were a true ABK fan through and through, then you might want give this a go. The price of $12 for only 8 tracks however, seems a bit steep for myself personally, but hey I got it for free. (For those wondering what the free gift is, it’s a 3-4″ vinyl ABK Pumpkin sticker with each CD.)
