Insane Clown Posse’s ‘Mighty Death Pop’ May Be Its Last Physical Album

So way back when, when music was released on vinyl records, everyone was amazed at the 8 track, then came the cassette  tape. After all these they made the compact disc and we thought these things will last forever! Slowly but surely the move is being made to all music simply being digital and downloaded. Will it happen altogether? Could very well be the case if things keep moving the way they are, and ICP is well aware of this fact. Billboard Magazine sat down for a quick interview about this very fact and why the Mighty Death Pop has much bonus material. They also touch base on the sound of the record itself:

“I told Mike to gather every track he had that we never used…and I sat and listened to probably 15 years worth of beats,” he explains. “I grabbed the most unusual sounding tracks. There are some anthems that were obvious, but I wanted to come different on this record. I felt like ‘Bang! Boom! Pow!’ took you back to the old school of ICP; that’s fresh, but I’m not going to live on that formula on every album. We want to keep creating new classics.”

It also looks they may not tour on this one? I don’t know if that’s something I really want to hear!? 90% of the fun is seeing the clowns onstage doing their thing! In any case, definitely an intriguing if not somewhat controversial read. You can check it out here.

    agree with wonka69,

theres no way they wouldnt do a tour to support the album. how the hell would they make money beyond hatchetgear.com?

and i think they should offer both the physical copy AND the digital copy. let the consumer decide what he/she wants to listen to. people dont realize that if you want digital copies you have to A)have a computer B)have some sort of mp3 player C)you’re gonna HAVE to pay for a yearly backup support like Carbonite, cuz if u get a virus or your hard drive crashes then you’re fucked.

its more expensive for a consumer to tailor to a digital copy versus just going to the record store, buying the CD, and popping it in your car stereo.

When I met Madrox in Houston, he said that their next album was probably also going to be the last one issued on disc. He even said that in the future, they might come out with “spray-on” albums. “Pffft! Here’s your record, thankuverymuch.”
