Dustin Miller (born May 2, 1977), best known by his stage name D-Loc, is an MC in the rap rock group Kottonmouth Kings and rap group Kingspade. The group is signed to Suburban Noize. Miller has been a part of the Kottonmouth Kings since they were the P town Ballers (PTB) in 1994.

D-Loc and the KMK have released 15 studio albums, as well as many other releases such as the hidden stash series, Joint Venture, Kottonmouth Xperience vol 1 and 2, classic hits live, Greatest Highs, and the Double Dose series. With Kottonmouth kings and Kingspade D-Loc has had over 22 album releases.

D-Loc’s first solo album “Made For Kings” came out in 2010. And, after rocking the SRH spade for 15 years D-Loc has since started his own clothing company, Hostility Clothing with fellow friend Ryan Humphreys from Western Australia . In April 2011, D Loc started hosting his own segment “D-Loc Days” on a Seattle area radio show titled The Hidden Stash. In January 2012, D-Loc started his own YouTube channel entitled D-LocTV.

In preparation of the release of his Weedman EP, which dropped on March 20, 2012, the rapper released two remix music videos for previously released hit singles. On January 18, 2012, D-Loc dropped a remix/video of Chris Brown’s hit single “Look At Me Now”, his retitled “Rollin’ Papers”.  Over a month later, in late February, he followed with his own remix of Dr. Dre’s Detox single, “Kush”.

His most recent release “Bong Tokes and Love Notes” was released on December 25, 2013.

  2. Holla Chirp
  3. Stay Token
  4. Splash
  5. Represent Peace

Track by track review and rating

  1. Smoked Out- This track has a really solid beat.  The lyrics are very much centered on his favorite activities as the name suggests.  The hook is quite simple but it doesn’t have to stand out to be successful.  8/10
  2. Holla Chirp- This was the first track off the album to get a video released.  The beat is simple which is alright here.  Lyrically the track is not very deep but that fits with the first track’s lyrics as well.  7/10
  3. Stay Token- A more complex beat leads this track.  The pace of the track is faster and that makes a nice change from the first two tracks.  For a party track it is good.  Overall it is not anything too memorable.  6/10
  4. Splash- The music that backs this track is very busy and takes away from the overall appeal.  This track is all about sex which is very different than ever track on the album so far.  The lyrics are sung R&B style which doesn’t really work with his style.  6/10
  5. Represent Peace- This track is the only one on the album to address any of the issues KMK is going through.  It doesn’t really say much though.  The beat is average at best and lyrically it is lacking.  6/10

 Overall Album Rating:  6.6/10

Conclusion:  For as short as this EP is it comes up short overall.  The content is less original than other short EP’s that have come out recently.  The beats are good in this one but some of the decisions that were made in production could have been much better.  The album started strong but finished very weak and seemed rushed at best.  If you are a D-Loc collector pick it up at the KMK website for $4.20.  If you are a casual fan you might want to pass it up for other releases.

Overall I’m not incredibly disappointed. I think tracks 1, 2, and 5 are what makes me enjoy this EP more than if everything sounded like 3 and 4. But for only $4.20, really not a bad buy for some quick jams.
