Although he was frequently heard on Myzery’s first mixtape Heaven or Hell on songs such as “Homicide” and “Welcome to My Cranium”, it was only a matter of time until Fuego Flamez came out with his own release. This mixtape features many thumping beats, haunting melodies, and diverse lyrics. Flamez had a lot to prove after the previous PME mixtape Heaven or Hell got great reviews, and he easily lives up to the hype. Of note is just like the previously mentioned mixtape, Hell n Back is also free to download.

Flamez has a steady lineup of topics for his songs. In tracks such as “Ziplock” and “Smokin’ on the Loud”, he raps about dro and getting blitzed. They’re overall good for the smoking sessions. He also incorporates things from his past into his tracks. Since Flamez is a mysterious figure and not much is known about his background, it’s interesting to hear his back story in songs such as “Welcome to My Hood”. That track also features a killer verse by Myzery and the two of them mesh together excellently when on the same track.

Some tracks on the album cover other topics, like in the song “Momma Raised a Hustler”. Although he mentions his lifestyle and past, he extends upon the struggles and basically pinpoints how he was raised. Bailz also makes an appearance and fits nicely in the song. “Dear Mama” is the bonus track that is worth mentioning. Making use of the soulful melodies and emotional verses, the track is basically a homage to the rap legend 2Pac. The track is very well done, and is possibly one of the best on the mixtape.

Fuego Flamez and Ralphie Mundo mix it up on “Wicked Shit”. Entering the horrorcore scene with vulgar and disturbing lines, the two of them prove that they can get wicked without a sweat. The melodies during the breakdowns are haunting, and the beat itself fits properly. The keys that are present consistently are almost freaky and would seem to be created for a bloody haunted playground.

Many of the beats in the album tend to fit the verses nicely, but there a few exceptions. “Money Mayday” has a beat that rarely changes, and the hi-hat loop during the chorus is the only noticeable change. The other effects don’t do the verses justice, and tend to simply get in the way. Although some of the beats rarely change up within a certain song, most of the time, it doesn’t matter. It still sounds good, and the flaws are far and few between. Songs such as “Mind Ya Business” and “Hip Hop’s Dead” has a dark beat to create a depressing tone which comes out perfectly, accompanied by a unique keyboard or piano line.

One of the strong points in this mixtape is the melodies. Fuego Flamez and the rest of the Spanish Side are easily able to create a melody during a breakdown or a chorus with a unique vibe. Whether it be the haunting question in “Mind Ya Business” or the eerie threat in “Wicked Shit”, the melodies fit nicely in the tracks, and are well done. But in the hook for “Ziplock”, the blazing chant has a simplistic line and it feels like better lyrics could have been chosen.

In conclusion, Hell n Back is a heavy stepping stone for Fuego Flamez. He has released a strong offering with only minimal flaws. The mixtape has elements of strong emotions, bleak flashbacks, and kush-related vibes. There are also a good chunk of features that accompany Flamez with ease. The Spanish Side should be proud to have Flamez alongside them, as he has indeed proven himself to the hype.
