RedKrow - "Darkest of Days" RedKrow feat. MC Snax - "Old Skool Kidz" RedKrow - "GutterFunk"

Welcome once again, Juggalos and Juggalettes, to the one and only Underground Spotlight. That’s right, it’s Johnny O and I’m back with a fresh new interview for everyone out there in Faygoluvers Land. This time around we get to chat with New Hampshire native, RedKrow. He’s been in the military, shared the stage with some big underground names, just released his latest album and he even has a hard on (literally) for Twiztid’s latest release.

Of course, we’ll get into all of that fun stuff below. So, without further adieu, I welcome you to the latest edition of the Faygoluvers’ Underground Spotlight.

Johnny O: First off, can you introduce yourself to the Faygoluvers family?

RedKrow: Sure thing, my names RedKrow aka Evil Red. i’m from Manchester NH, currently im stomping around portsmouth but I rep all 603 proudly. Ive been doing my thing since 2010. Ive had the pleasure to work with some dope emcees, opening for A.B.K, A.M.B and Twiztid. I eat, sleep, breathe and bleed Hip Hop, love what im doing and working on doing it full time.

JO: Of course I know that no one likes to be put in a box, but if you had to, how would you describe your style to perspective fans?

RK: That’s a fantastical question, that’s kind of a tough one tho. im unique, and my style has a lil something for everyone.  I guess you could say if old school hip hop, and acid rap had a sexathon. Got knocked up and had an abortion, but it somehow survived…thats me.

JO: I know that you spent some time in the armed forces, can you tell us a bit about the experience and how it has effected your life going forward?

RK: Yeah I was in the military (U.S Army) from 2008 to 2011, I deployed from 2010 to 2011 then got kicked out. My experience was mixed, I loved seeing the world and meeting some cool cats. But I realized early on it wasn’t for me, so thankfully I wasn’t there long. How it’s affected me for the future? Essentially I’m more comfortable with being gone for periods of time, without getting home sick. So, that helps when touring.

JO: Balancing a home life and this type of career isn’t easy, how has your family been with this whole thing?

RK: I don’t have a working relationship with any family members, except for my kids and they think im the best thing since the invention of juice boxes. So they take it very well, and they love seeing me succeed. The biggest supporters of my movement, have been the Juggalos, which is the only family support besides my kids i need. Real Talk…

JO: Switching gears back to your musical career, was there a particular moment that made you take it more seriously? And would you tell us about it?

RK: Well I’ve always wanted to be an MC, ive been obsessed with Hip Hop since i was 7. But to pin point an exact moment, where all my focus shifted to making it happen…Yes in 2012 I met Twiztid in Worcester, MA at the Palladium (thru V.I.P passes). They showed me so such love, and that really inspired me. How they treated their fans, and there presence on stage. Ive seen them before, but this night was extra special. I got to go on stage with them, in that moment in front of hundreds to thousands of Juggalos is when it went from just a passion, to being full blown Driven to making this a living.

JO: So, is there anything on the horizon for RedKrow that you can you let us in on?

RK: Yeah, I’m always working on new music. I got a new EP dropping in the summer, then a new LP dropping in the fall. I open for Twiztid March 14, in Providence, Rhode Island. I got a few music videos I’m doing, they should be dropping this month and more in March. Other then that I’m looking to get booked, maybe play the gathering this year or go on tour.

JO: Recently, you dropped your latest album, “AcidVision Melted Minds Vol. 0,” how would you say it differs from your previous efforts?

RK: AcidVision I feel is my most fun body of work thus far, my best foot forward this early in to my career. AcidVision is also my first legit LP, and I’m so proud of it cause it feels the most diverse in content, style and the tracks are all so catchy. Most people that give it a listen, tell me they love it and there ain’t a track to skip. That was my ultimate goal, which can’t be said about my previous efforts. This album was also the most inspired, like i knew what i had to do to evolve so it only took roughly a month to make. Which is nuts but the stars aligned, the shit just spilled out like verbal diarrhea and I think people really dig it. If not it is free, so use it as a coaster or a ninja star or last resort toilet paper.

JO: Speaking of the album, how has the reception been so far?

RK: Like I said the reception has been surprisingly really good so far, def my most successful effort to date. It’s fun to hear people tell me, which tracks they love or connect to the most. Some tracks are consistent in the “thats my shxt” catagory, but more often then not I hear a variety of love for songs, that I didnt expect to speak to as many people as much as they did. The most thrilling thing is when I’m in Manchester, and I hear my songs blaring out of dude’s cars’. Or I get feedback from people in Portsmouth, telling me they heard my songs playing at this place or that place. I wanna tour and see how far my looney tunes have reached lol.

JO: What is the underground scene like up in New Hampshire and how has it changed through your years there?

RK: It depends on your taste of hip hop, i think in general we got alot of talent in NH as well as in New England as a whole (like Jimmie Hoffa, D-Monic and Slaine to name a few). In NH we got JZac, KDaver, DefRock & Miles Maker, Neuromancer, J Malz and Myself all making buzz. There’s talent here for sure, labels are crazy for not paying more attention. But we are getting heard, as evident by the ever fresh Faygoluvers showing me love.

JO: If fans want to check out more of your work, where can they find you?

RK: Fans can find me and stalk me on FB at www.facebook.com/redkrow13, Twitter @RedKrow13 , my soundcloud is www.soundcloud.com/redkrow and on iTunes and bandcamp at www.redkrow.bandcamp.com you can also email me for collabs or for booking at [email protected]

JO: You’ve shared the stage with several big underground names, but if you could reach out to anyone, who would you love to work with?

RK: I’d love to work with Madchild, convince him to produce a future record of mine or even just do a track with him. I think our two minds in the same room, could possibly bring epic results. I’d also love to reach out to Psychopathic Records, I’m curious how a RedKrow album produced by them would sound.

JO: Who is RedKrow currently listening to?

RK: I’m bumping alot of Snak the Ripper, Jarren Benton, the Notorious B.I.G, Vinnie Paz, R.A the Rugged Man,Twiztid, Blaze ya dead homie, Nas, Wu-Tang and Naughty By Nature. Obviously Madchild lol. I like to mix my old school with alot of new shxt. For example Twiztid’s new album has given me a solid erection for a week now, i dont know if thats healthy or not.

JO: Over the years who would you say have been your inspirations?

RK: Obviously all the names I mentioned before have inspired me, but lyrically who has inspired me most is Naughty by Nature, R.A the rugged man, Eminem, and Heavy D.

JO: It’s always nice to end with a few thank yous, so how about a few shouts before we go?

RK:  YES, first off a HUGE thank you to Faygoluvers for this interview, I appreciate the love shown and any coverage you guys give me. Thanks to all the Juggalos, they have embraced me like no other fan base on this planet. Thank you to anyone who listens to my music, weather your affiliated with the awesome Los or Lettes or not. Shout out to D-Monic, and thanks to MC Snax for collabing with me on one of my fave tracks on AcidVision. Lastly BIG thanks to Auntie Evil for giving me the biggest opportunities ever, and putting me on her high profile shows. Much love y’all…
