Hailing from Philadelphia PA, the Muslim born emcee puts Philly back on on the underground Hip-Hop radar with the Grimy Mixtape. The sick multi flows that Politicize brings to the table reminisces the glory days of early 1990’s old school wicked shit by blending hardcore street rhymes and a hint of horror. The style could very well be the bastard child of House of Krazees and Vinnie Paz. Politicize isn’t afraid to take the controversial gloves all the way off and doesn’t hesitate to spit what exactly is on his mind by giving listeners a morbid visual of the harsh realities of the inner-city life. The production from Jason Porter is top notch and could very well serve as the official soundtrack for the people surrounded by Detroit’s urban decay.

The major highlights

The album kicks off nicely with “Zombie Squad (featuring Aequitas)”.  This track is about a special police force which gets called for backup when ordinary cops can’t handle the situation at hand. The lyrics from Politicize describe the crime scene so vividly that listeners will envision themselves at the scene of the crime. He’s that detailed! Aequitas does a fine job at telling his own story too. Jason Porter drops a dark eerie beat with creepy samples that could even send chills up John Carpenter’s spine.

“Manifesto of Death” is Politicize proving that he is a true emcee and has the skills on the mic to murder the beat. Crime scene tape may need to be wrapped around your speakers upon listening. It’s a short track with no hook, but that’s what makes it stand out on its own. It’s straight to the point and once the track is over, people will hit the replay button over and over again.

Fans of Reel Life Production will be rejoicing over the track “That’s Grimy”. It’s a Hip-Hop banger for those who love to drive around and show off their subs. The track features RLP alumni, Doc Hollywood Hustle and Jason Porter. Each emcee slays the beat by rhyming about what exactly defines Grimy.  Politicize brings forth an infectious hook that will may be stuck inside listeners heads for days on end. It could very well be  Politicize’s best hook to date.

The Strange Music crowd will appreciate the track “Apocalypse”. Politicize seems to have mastered the chopper flow style and should do it more often. It’s impressive that Politicize is capable of this chopper craft among everything else. It definitely will catch the elites of that style off guard! But it’s not all about being a chopper, as guest rapper Gillie DA Kid slows things down, but holds his own with a fresh flavor that sounds akin to Wu-Tang Clan. The beat is godly! Jason Porter does a damn good job at capturing on what an apocalypse could sound in music form.

“Wicked MC’s”  is the type of track that will keep your head bobbing throughout its entirety. It features Jason Porter and the legendary bay area rapper Spice-1. Everyone shows off a special wicked verse and each rapper is able to shine on their own, but Spice-1 fans are in for a treat!  Spice takes over the beat as if it were made for one of his own albums and conquers over Jason Porter’s production flawlessly. Those who follow Spice-1 wouldn’t have it any other way.

The piano on the “Darkness Falls” remix is where it’s at! It brings on the type of atmosphere that instantly signifies that the reaper is near to take someone to the afterlife. Politicize, Jason Porter and Mars (of Mad Insanity Records) give rise to more malicious fascinations that dive into a perverse suicidal theme. In the end, it delivers hard and it may lead listeners into their very own straight jacket.

The closer, “Last Bullet,” proves yet again that the art of chopping flows through the veins of Politicize. The beat shows that Jason Porter‘s creativity still thrives. Nothing more can be said besides the fact it’s a nice closer for the mixtape and will leave heads spinning!

The Final Verdict

The Grimy Mixtape is an overall strong effort. Politicize defines what true authentic Hip-Hop should be.  It will have fans of the darker side of Hip-Hop jumping up and down from excitement. Jason Porter more than delivered as a producer.  Each beat is its own masterpiece. People are going to want a follow up to the Grimy Mixtape to drop super soon! Hopefully Politicize and Jason Porter team up again to bring us something even more Grimy.
