Tech N9ne Explains why he will NOT Play the 18th Annual Gathering of the Juggalos

Tech N9ne was interviewed this week on Shade 45 on SiriusXM Satellite Radio by a DJ named Rude Jude.   He was on there to promote the release of JL‘s debut Strange Music LP: DIBKIS.

What ended up happening though is for roughly a third of the interview, he explained his relationship with the Insane Clown Posse and the Hot97 Interviews that started some controversy between the two crews.

Tech explained that everything is good between ICP, Juggalos, and Strange Music now, but that he would NOT be playing this year’s Gathering of the Juggalos.  Once everything was said on Hot97, they went ahead and booked other shows/festivals rather than hold a spot for the Gathering.

Tech said that while he and ICP are on good terms, Travis O’Guin isn’t so quick to forgive and forget.

In the interview, which can be heard below (thanks to Official ChzBrgr), Tech starts talking about the whole situation at around the 7 minute mark.  At about the 15:50 mark, Tech talks about why he won’t play at the Gathering this year.  Give it a listen below:

What are your thoughts on what Tech said?

Ehh, not really buying this. I feel like hes been looking for a way out without catching heat from the juggalos, and he finally found the way out that wasnt his fault. Travis may be your “other half” but if you wanted to do the gathering bad enough you definitely have enough say so to make it happen. And also am I the only one who just can’t take tech always talking about being a hardcore blood serious? It just doesnt sound beleiveable.

Seems strange, if he has the amount of control of Strange Music as the owner, he would be able to change a day of touring in order to play at the gathering. If he wanted to, he could do it. Considering the events of the past year, it would have been a solid move if he made it to the GOTJ, sucks that it won’t happen this year.

Lmfao @ tech tryina say it’s “juggalos crazy in the pit” that makes technicians not like them. Fuck that, I met technicians with straight hate for juggalos. Whatever. Also find it retarded that this dude claims “blood” and the FBI is nowhere to be found. Y isn’t the underground like the NFL and have Roger Goodell monitoring this shit. Anyways, fuck tech. Wish I was going even more now without tech bein there. Gonna b a fresh gathering. WHOOP WHOOP

Trav & Tech tired of taking that pay cut to do the GOTJ.

He said earlier that he gets $100,000 for a fest but did GOTJ for $40,000.

He takes a pay cut and then gets disrespected, I wouldda said “Fuck That” too.

Yeah this seems like a cop out to a point. But it is what it is. Be fresh to see Tech do Hallowicked or Big Ballas though.

It may be a cop out but the whole situation is off-putting. Don’t be angry that Tech isn’t playing the Gathering or going to the march, be angry that there are Juggalos voicing death threats and perpetuating the very image that has people booking hotels in and flights to DC.

Bad move for Strange. Dunno about elsewhere, but where I live, they gotta get like 30 openers on a pay to play just to draw a crowd. Tech is one dude and he rocks. Most of the other acts are meh, which is why he “presents” them. Strange is delusional if they think they have a working label. They got one dude, a few diamonds in the rough and a pile of mediocrity. Juggalos make up about 50% of Tech’s portfolio.

The crowd is like 90% juggalos at every tech show I’ve ever been to ..once he loses the juggalos, his career is over

Good. Tired of tech let him. Go. Line up looks solid. Glad to see dope on there and The Iceman! For future reference, the most relevant acts that PSY should be pursuing are DEATH GrIPS, $uicideboy$, swag toof, dope dod, jk the reaper, ss gang, raider klan, Krucifix klan and DJ FIre

I’ve been saying this…what sketchez said. I’ve seen Tech in LA, Detroit (many times), Jacksonville, and Tampa. And I can def say that its around 65-75% Juggalos in every different city I’ve seen Tech play. If he just straight up turns his back on Juggalos, Strange will see the power of the Juggalos with sales and attendance. And I love Tech, but man!!!
