Maez Breaks Down Music Strategy and Performs “On One” & “No Rest” Live

Broadcasting from Los Angeles four years later, Sway’s Universe had Maryland native, now L.A-based rapper Maez as their first guest during their live taping. Donning a L.A blue fit and 80k chain, Maez discloses that his hardwork and dedication so far represents where he’s at in his career. With the state of his current project is done, the rapper is making music that appeals to different people keeping listeners guessing— hence the origin of his name.

Breaking down his particular music strategy, so far Maez has released his work in phases— four songs, stating “[it’s] not too much or too little, releasing every eight weeks” With the first three phases already out, the ‘M,’ ‘A,’ and ‘E,’ EPs will bring to culmination the last of the four with ‘MAEZ’ which is set to be released in November. He currently has two albums ready, incorporating jazz, rock, pop, and other melodic sounds, with an emphasis in hip-hop. He goes on to articulate on how the margin for error is small when artists are starting out and not in high demand. Using this to his advantage he isn’t afraid to try something strange, and enjoying time alone in the studio. Making history as the first to ever perform in the Los Angeles studios, for the high-energy “On One” closing out with the lower-tempo “No Rest.” You can find Maez on all platforms @MAEZ301
