Kickstarter Gets Twiztid! – Haunted High-Ons: The Darkness Rises (Collector’s Edition)

Many people might be familiar with Twiztid’s comedy/horror comic book series “Haunted High-Ons” which currently consists of 5 issues. For those unfamiliar with it; here’s a brief synopsis from their latest project.

“Musicians by day and fake ghost hunters by night. When TWIZTID gets called to a real haunted house, they soon realize that it’s their responsibility to stop the wicked energy known as “The Darkness” from spreading across the land – whether they’re up to it or not!”

The series has seen so much success that issues 1-4 are completely sold-out at all shops nationwide! This has inspired Twiztid to roll up all 5 issues into 1 trade paperback for the mass market but they’re also offering loads of other goodies including a limited hardcover collector’s edition which is available exclusively through Kickstarter.

Twiztid might seem like they wouldn’t necessarily need Kickstarter to make this project a reality, but they offered a good explanation for why exactly they chose the platform.

“The answer is simple: You. Through Kickstarter, Twiztid and Source Point Press can offer you a deluxe, Kickstarter Exclusive hardcover edition of this collection that will not be available in comic stores – or anywhere else.”

“Additionally, using Kickstarter allows us to offer those who pledge more and more Stretch Goal bonuses and upgrades, as well as Pledge Levels that are impossible to offer through comic shops and book stores.”

Fans now have the unique opportunity to directly fund this book and score some exclusive rewards for doing so! The hardcover version is already an awesome bonus but there are so many other goodies to choose from that it’ll make your head spin, so make sure to check out the project! A few of the rewards are only available in limited quantities, so make sure to act quickly! The project will be active until October 31 2019 4:21 PM EDT

How is this greedy? They’re providing content for those who wish to purchase and participate. They’re making a living. Don’t like it, don’t buy it.

You heard it here: don’t give money to artists you like because they’re selling something.

Never buy anything from ICP anymore. They’re greedy. Clearly.

I think it has to do with people not wanting to fund a project with their own money just so those people not only get a project completed with little to no expense but then they also profit on top of that. While you get a little something it clearly says there is limited quantities. Just cause u donate doesn’t mean u get shit.

I’m sorry but asking to fund something that your more than capable of doing with your own money is jacked. But people will do that and that’s why these people do it. Why spend your own money when u can spend someone else’s. In case u thought I’m hating on them I’m not. More power to them. But you can count me out. I barely got enough to get by. Hard copy, soft copy all the same. Nothing there offering makes me think this is good for anyone but them.

Idk, I guess it’s all how you look at it. The ones that offer the 2 VIP’s is pretty decent, imo, because that’s $250 right there. Plus I like the idea of an art commission from Madrox as I really like his art style.

Kickstarter has been something I should avoid, and yet I can’t lol. Pledged on this last night. I only read the one-shot and issue #1, but I really enjoyed them. Definitely better quality than the comic that got put out with W.I.C.K.E.D. at Hot Topic.

Add this kickstarter shit to the long list of reasons why Mne is whack as shit, a kickstarter? You fucking serious Twiztid? And people say Psy is failing, this kickstarter is just embarrassing for Mne, twizzlers have to be the dumbest fucking fanbase out there if they actually contribute to this shit.

ICP used Pledgemusic earlier this year for Fearless Fred Fury.

Not a single person got what they pledged for.

Psychopathic never acknowledged the issues Pledgemusic had, then PM shut down. Lots of people were out money.

At least with KS, anytime I’ve pledged on a campaign, I’ve had consistent updates on the status of what was going on.

Yeah PledgeMusic ISN’T a kickstarter so it’s a little irrelevant to bring it up. PledgeMusic fucked up, That’s not ICPs fault. Just because Twiztid are whack enough to start a kickstarter cos they are broke doesn’t have anything to do with ICP. What can I say if you donate to Twiztids kickstarter you’re just a fucking idiot and that’s about it.

You do realize that the people pledging money are guaranteed the items when the goal is met, right? They aren’t giving money away, then having to spend more money to get the stuff. They pledge a certain tier, then get the items in said tier

And if it didn’t hit the goal, they don’t take the money in the first place.

It’s legit just another form of pre-ordering.

    People don’t pay attention…

I don’t get what the problem is? This is pretty much exactly the same as if they did not do a kickstarter and just put the book up for sale. Only difference is less risk involved for Twiztid because they know in advance exactly the number of product they need to produce. Why is the thought there that Twiztid is making so much extra $$? They’re probably making a little bit of profit, but in these comments it sounds like people think they’re paying for the kickstarter and then they’re going to have to pay a second time to actually get the product…

Only thing this article should state is that these aren’t shipping till July 2020…

That’s what I’m saying. People think they’re pocketing the cash, then getting MORE cash on top of it.

The benefit of the KS campaign is that it’s allowing the publisher the ability to gauge how much interest there is from the fans for all the added incentives like the additional chapters and whatnot. They’re still mass-producing the softcover version regardless.

I have no interest in the product so I won’t contribute. However it’s pretty obvious that most of the comment section don’t understand how Kickstarter works.
On a side note remember when psy charged all that money for the COC show and said it was for a shaggys brother documentary or whatever? Maybe they should’ve tried Kickstarter and then they couldn’t just “forget” about it.

How do you know it’s not being made you fuck head? You do realise movies take years to make right? It’s not like they were going to have the COC show and then 2 weeks later you’d get the documentary. Kickstarter is for whack bitches like MNE.

Actually they are very similar. Pledge music worked off the same business model as Kickstarter. They had 2 programs. One EXACTLY like Kickstarter you only had your pledge taken when the goal was reached. The 2nd program they took your money right away but didn’t give it to the artist until completion of the project.

    Why do you even care?

Hell, why do you even care about what fans of Twiztid spend their money on? We know you don’t like Twiztid; you force that fact on us daily. But if it’s something people like, why not just… idk… let people do their own thing? Seems like a simple conclusion to me.

I ain’t mad at You, but when you respond to everything except the guy that’s calling bullshit on your comparison then it makes your stand point seem a little weak. If twizzlers wanna be some suckers and hand over their money for something as fucking stupid as a rap duos comic book kickstarter then by all means drink that Mne kool aid, I can’t stop you, but you’re still a fucking idiot if you do.

They’ve already said there will be another series. This is to make a collected edition of the first series, which a lot of comic companies do after a series is done. They specified that the first 4 issues are practically sold out everywhere you go, so this puts the whole story in one package.

It’s like The Pendulum way back in 2000…

Mikey you really think low budget documentaries about a deceased person should take years to film and edit? Does it take you 2 days to tie your shoes? Big blockbuster movies shoot and edit in less than 6 months on average. Stop making excuses you dick riding hound dog.
