“Fun”, the third track on Mystic, is about the freedom of deciding you are going to die. When there is no future to look forward to, there is nothing to lose. The feeling of truly being alone exonerates you of responsibility and disappointment, because you have on one holding you accountable, including yourself. Sure, you can go and do as you please free of consequence. It’s Fun…until it’s not.
After a long day of endangering yourself with no regard for your own life, you realize that having no one and nothing to live for is actually more of a cage than anything else. Maybe it’s exciting for a moment, but in the end, you are completely alone.
