For those readers new to Political Assasin here is what he has to say:

To stand strong when everything is wrong is simply my life. Those words come to mind when I think about all the things I’ve been through in life, everything I’ve seen and done. Born in Philadelphia, my family and I moved around the tri-state area many times. As long as I can remember I grew up loved at home but hated at school. Every racial slur you can think of I’ve been called. To be perfectly honest if it wasn’t for the love and support of my family at the time, I’m not sure what I would have done. Ever since I can remember I’ve always sided with those individuals who were at a disadvantage, I guess it reminded me of myself. It was during my senior year in high school that I began taking an interest in the politics of the Muslim world. My mother and father both Muslim never really talked much about politics. The underdog in me took over as I began to research the history of Palestine and the Christian crusades against the Muslim world. The more I learned about the world’s treatment of Muslims, the angrier I got. And along with the anger came sadness, sadness that I could not do anything to change the situation of my people. I started writing lyrics and putting them to beats. At the time I didn’t know that this was something I really wanted to peruse, at the same time I was getting better, my flow became like the HIV virus ever evolving. I started producing my own beats and realized that this was something I wanted to invest my time and funds into. What better way to get my message across? I had already tried using violence to solve my problems. At some time I found that my approach wasn’t working anymore and with every useless battle waged, I died a little more on the inside. It was time to fight a bigger battle, with weaponry in the form of words. The more information I knew the , better. I and am now and forever dedicated to bringing my music to the world. My mind focused, sharp and ready for battle, whether it me mental or physical. Make way for the greatest underdog story ever; make way for The Political Assasin.

Track by track review and rating

  1. Intro: 21 sec movie beginning intro. N/A
  2. Vigilante Anthem:  This track includes samples from the movie Hobo with a shotgun.  A simple beat allows the lyrics to come out clear.  A good opening track to the album.  8/10
  3. Back Up:  The sample on this track comes from the movie Predator.  Vocally a good track.  The beat is decent if not a little complex.  The hook is really repetitive.  6/10
  4. 215 Philly Funk Illadel:  The first track on the album with no movie sample.  Simple lyrics over a simple beat but it works well in this track.  7/10
  5. Word Game:  Contains music from Rocky.  The lyrics are not performed well on this track.  The cadence is really lacking and the hook is not very well written.  4/10
  6. Redemption:  This sample comes from Kick boxer 1.  A nice beat and very personal lyrics.  His emotions definitely shine in this track.  7/10
  7. Who’s a Terrorist:  Sample from Glory.  This track is him speaking out against America and all those who consider everyone from the Middle East terrorists.  A very good beat and the content is well presented.  8/10
  8. Welcome to the Darkside Remix:  Nightmare on Elm Street is sampled here.  A really good track.  The hook is wicked.  9/10
  9. Restless Feat Gillie the Kid:  A very different beat than the other so far.  Gillie the Kid adds a great verse which changes the flow.  7/10
  10. Change the Game:  Sample from the Godfather.  This track addresses a majority of issues he feels are facing the rap game today.  A great topic and he covers it      well.  7/10
  11. Higher Learning Feat Tori Amos:  Sample from Higher Learning of course.  Another simple beat.  The verses are performed well.  A strange mix with Tori Amos on the track takes away from the appeal.  6/10
  12. Body the Illuminati:  This sample is from Christine.  This track was the first video off the CD.  Good flow over a very interesting beat.  7/10
  13. Sexual Terminator:  Terminator 1 and 2 are sampled in this track.  A song all about sex.  A good beat and the verses are well formed and performed.  8/10
  14. The day is Coming Feat Spice-1:  Sample provided by Hardware.  This track has the simplest beat on the CD.  Good cadence in the verses and Spice-1 comes with that old school style.       7/10
  15. Flag of my Father:  The most complex beat of the CD on this track, but that isn’t a good thing.  Lyrically it is not the best.  5/10
  16. Last Cry:  Sample from Last Samurai.  More of an old school beat here.  Decent track with a positive message.  7/10
  17. It ain’t A-rab it’s Arab Feat Hush:  This song is his attempt to squash racism.  While the message is good the delivery just comes off as whining.  Hush adds a lot to the track.  7/10
  18. I am You:  Overall a nice beat and vocals.  7/10
  19. Se7en Sinz:  Sample featuring Morgan Freeman from Se7en.  A song about the seven sins.  Sick beat and the vocals do well against it.  9/10

Conclusion:  Having never listened to anything by Political Assasin I went into this CD not knowing what to expect.  While some of the content will have the listener wanting to turn to something else they shouldn’t.  The CD is well produced and he has really good flow over some unique and interesting beats.  This CD is enjoyable and should be giving a shot by most hip hop fans.
