horror vacui is a condition in art where an artist feels the need to cover as much of the work in detail as possible, creating little to no negative space which is often distracting and hard to read. Horror vacui is most commonly found in primitive art practices and outsider art, both of which are huge influences of mine. This piece was a deliberate chaos created in a hostile rebellion of a very boring class I took. This was my final. I collaged multiple images together, using broken source code to alter some of the images, and then laid them out in a composition that centers on the connections art makes for me. Some of the pieces are physically manipulated, others digitally, and others still manipulated at a data level. The various distortions and edits represent different types of energies. Light, sound, emotion, and decay are omnipresent in our world and in our works, so I highlighted them here in supernova vacui. H

the piece was placed behind the spoiler tag because it includes a boob.

any and all feedback welcome.

Somebody really didn't like my art. We took down the show that had my juggalo self portrait and someone had vandalized it. That kinda bums me out.

that pisses me off....

personally im not a fan of your art for the most part. its a little out there for my tastes.

but that sort of shit is uncalled for.

on a positive note, someone hated your art enough to defile it and that in itself is an obsession.

Thanks, man. I've been kinda insecure about it since the vandalism so I'm glad there's cool people who like it.

Yeah I have been trying to think of it like that but with my depression I mostly just obsess over the negative shit. I mean, it's cool to dislike something. It's cool to criticise and even to mock but to damage it?

Last time I showed juggalo art at school someone stole it. That felt better lol.

And thanks for looking even though you don't like the other stuff I posted.

always got time for you brother.

i can still appreciate it to some extent, but ive always been a very nature orientated person. most of the artwork i own or enjoy the most is of nature scenes (corny right? hahaha).

i suppose growing up in the bush and spending alot of time near the beach and such has had a lasting effect on me.

or perhaps im just a simple person. either way /shrug.

yeah i cant understand why someone would vandalise it. even when i was a young thuggish 15 year old, i wouldnt vandalise something like that. break into a shop/warehouse? sure thing, but dont vandalise someones artwork.

i think i would be very happy if someone stole my artowrk hahaha

Don't let it sweat you man. people are dicks by nature. just keep doing you. do they have cctv in the building? or security?

There's an art history perspective about why people like nature scenes in art and it's thought to be a sort of way of looking at "god". Nature is sublime beauty, connected with things like perfect form, depth, and really large works. Stuff that looks monolithic. Stuff that is like standing at the foot of Niagara Falls.

The work I make tends to be sort of a rejection of that (though I'd love to work big) and explores irregular shapes, squiggly lines, and flat spaces which are thought to remind us of inward thought, like sitting with a candle.

There's nothing simple about liking what you like.

Yeah when someone stole a hatchetman I made I was like yay but you could have asked lol. I didn't even get pics of it.

There's no security cameras or anything, unfortunately. I'll have to just let it da fuq go and hope it doesn't happen again.

that's a cool school

where do you live rob??? where in Cali?

I live in Ontario but my school is in Rancho Cucamonga.

It's a pretty decent school but the little pond ain't that much. Sometimes theres lotuses in there which is why I chose that spot, I wish there were some right now but hopefully as the semester begins to end they'll blossom or whatever lotuses do.
