@patjoyce @sean-law let's make it happen.

Some preliminary questions (I know you love these pat)

How often should we do a book?

How do we want to discuss them? On here? Via webcam?

How will we decide the books?

Fucking Book Clubs, how do they work?

For real though, idk how book clubs work.

Count me in dude, this is a dope idea. We can get together and chat about the book, but its really just a ruse to gossip about neighborhood goings on and how larry is fucking his accounting clerk.

I really am down to do this. As for the rest of the questions,no idea dude.

As long as we aint reading sexually charged romance novels im not picky and dabble in a bunch.

if ya want it to be a little formalized, i suppose someone can just be the club leader, and designate whose turn it is to recommend a book.  or some shit like that.

  awfully paranoid, arent you?

Cool shit dude!! Let's do this!!!

1.) Depends how often people want to read or have time to read. I'd throw out like one book a month, almost anyone could manage that. But if people need more/less time, we could figure it out. Also, some books are bigger than others, you could figure out a time for each book. Think something like "Under the Dome" to "Lord of the Flies" for example. It would take up to a month for Under the Dome, when most people could read Lord of the Flies in a day or two.

2.) I'd rather do a talk about it on here, but could manage a webcam. I just never use mine, I find this easier. But whatever people prefer I guess. We could also just do both.

3.) We can all agree on some dope shit or could take turns in picking them. One thing to keep in mind is some books are harder to get than others, and if a book is only in hardcover at the moment it could cost anywhere from $28-$35. Not everyone will want to go out and spend that, or even have to go out to get it at wherever your bookstores are. I say that because up here bookstores are kinda few and far between, most went out of business when Kindle came along. I don't really prefer Kindle, but it's simple as fuck to download books, if someone was looking to avoid going out altogether. They're also cheaper. Members could also set up a Kindle Cloud and everyone can read and share the same books. Not exactly sure how it works, but people I work with do it. I can find out. Then only one person would have to buy the book, and everyone could read it. Just a thought for people who may like and enjoy Kindle, I personally don't like it but millions of other people prefer it. Just a thought.

4.) This should be the FLH Book Club motto.

I am a slow reader, so it would probably take me a week to read lord of the flies ubless I had a whole free day to read it.

How about we pick books that you can find at the library? Then it's free for everyone.

I'm down. Hard to find time to read with kids always needing me but if y'all highly recommend something I'll make time. Plus I'll be camping a lot soon so a book would be swell. Anyone on Goodreads? I have an account but haven't been on it in months. Forgot my name and password.

Okay I figured it out. I'm under "Brett M."... 30/m .. I think that's how I'm found through the search on Goodreads. Weird thing? I mentioned the site a few hours ago and guess what site emails me for the first time in months? Yup lol.. its a sign.

Of course @entrappedmind, more the merrier. Bring yo bad ass self to the book club.

@old-mr-dangerous, have you ever thought of ignoring your kids? Try it out, you'll probably like it. Practice this "Can't you see I'm reading?" You'll be good to go, and before you know it, you'll be ready to forget them, just like your name and password. smile

Ive tried ignoring them, kicking them, broiling them, mailing them to Abu Dhabi... nothing works but imma keep trying.

Which begs the cannibal question:

CHILDREN - Raise em or Braise em?

I hate that I am such a slow reader... Websites and tests I can speed through, but for books I for some reason I come to a disgusting, disappointing snail's crawl.

@old-mr-dangerous, hahahahaha, That was wicked funny.

@piggofdoom, it could be that you're reading books that you don't like all that much. I used to have the same problem with books in school and shit, if it was something I had to read or just wasn't into, it was more of a chore than anything else. Maybe if you had a really bad ass book that you couldn't wait to get to the end of to see hoe everything turns out, it would be different. Or maybe not, just a thought. Hey, that rhymed.

I honestly don't read books much. I only really read behind the paint... twice.  I don't get a lot of quiet time to sit down and read. I can try though.  aslong as its not a Nora Roberts novel or something

I'll fuck you till you love me, Faggot!

Even with books I like. It's like... When I am reading on a website or a test, I can skim past quickly and pick Up all of the information, but with books I have to go word by word and go back and reread.

Stephen King himself admits to being a slow reader. But he's frequent. I'm kinda slow usually. I like to reread sentences that hit me in the taint, And to appreciate sentence structure and page geography. When I was younger I'd read fast but not retain the details, and even miss crucial events in the plot. You can be taught to speed read and retain the info. My mom was taught but didn't keep up on it and eventually lost the ability.
