global warming aka climate changeyou guys believe in that??
it's going to be 12 degrees in Montreal on christmas eve that's 56.3 farenheit in the states.
and there is no snow anywhere, all our skatting rinks are empty nothing has froze this christmas will be a green christmas here.
I remember we used to get a full snow fall before halloween but now there is no damn snow anywhere.
so remember to turn off the lights everytime you leave a room
cause this world is fucked
I live in Iowa. And It has snowed maybe twice here this year, and it all instantly melted as soon as it hit the ground. We've been having highs in the 50's and 60's. In December ... in Iowa. I've lived here my whole life, and that is not normal. I remember when I was a kid 15 17 some years ago, and snow would sometimes be on the ground before Halloween! But now? It takes nearly till January or even February for snow to stick to the ground. @the_positive_smack

we all should have listened to Al Gore years ago.
Al Gore may mean well, but science says not even his long-winded speeches about carbon emissions will stop the onset of the next ice age (or the warming period that precedes it.)
"Approximately every 100,000 years Earth's climate warms up temporarily. These warm periods, called interglacial periods, appear to last approximately 15,000 to 20,000 years before regressing back to a cold ice age climate."

The overwhelming evidence is that the climate is changing far more rapidly than it has in the past and that our carbon usage is in direct relationship to the overall warming of the planet. There's plenty of science that demonstrates this.
There is a natural cycle of heating and cooling but we know for a fact that carbon in the atmosphere traps heat which greatly affects our climate and to deny that is to simply not understand science.
Also, as the Earth becomes more unstable we will see more fluctuation in the general consistency of temperature.
The earth will out live all of us.
We still have plenty of time to start solving the problems that contribute to climate change and there are much smarter people than me working on it so I won't even pretend to understand all that they're doing. GMOs hold a lot of potential though. And apparently so does painting your roof white. And not eating beef. And buying used products rather than new when you can. And recycling. We have to eventually abandon oil and it looks like there is some real progress there. And we gotta rely more on solar and (offshore) wind farms. It can be done. It will be done. We just gotta stop clinging to our past and denying it.
And we will go extinct at some point but we're a smart species who has adapted our way through some serious crises in the past so I wouldn't be terrified of climate change, just knowledgeable and try to work around it / start making small changes now and voting for people who see it as a priority.

...
Yes there is "overwhelming evidence" that the climate is changing. And yes, our CO2 emissions are higher than before... But climate changing far more rapidly? Not too sure about that one.
If you look at just recent data, which is often stated, it looks pretty bad. Actually, really bad indeed!
But when you look at historical data that goes back much farther, then we are hardly "warming" more than ever before.
In fact this is not even the fastest or highest warming trend. And guess what, humans had nothing to do with the previous ones. We weren't even around for most of them. Do we really think we are so self important that we have such an effect on the planet? Or that we can change what is naturally going to happen as it has happened many times over? We did not start the warming trend, and we definitely are not going to stop it. The data that the proponents of climate change like to cite is a narrow scope of what is happening in local time, not broad spectrum. The whole purpose is to slow down newly industrialized nations to mitigate product competition. It's all about bottom line. The environment is the convenient excuse to feed to the public so that they get behind global legislation that prevents threats to current industrialized nation's gross national product. Nothing else.
Sure, I am behind things that lessen our growing CO2 emissions, but only because it leads to better ways to harness energy and get away from limited "scarcity driven" fossil fuels. But I do not think we can change anything about climate change. It is cyclic and deals with things we have absolutely no control over.
11 year and 206 year cycles of solar variability.
21,000 year cycles of Earth's combined tilt and elliptical orbit around the Sun.
41,000 year cycles of the +/- 1.5° wobble in Earth's orbit.
100,000 year cycles in variations in the shape of Earth's elliptical orbit
Can we change solar variability? Can we change the tilt and elliptical nature of our orbit? Can we change the wobble in the earth's orbit? Can we change the variations in the shape of our orbit?
It is those things that sum up to and match the data of real long term climate change. And we are in one of those natural cyclic increases. We have been long before the industrial revolution even started. We didn't start it and we sure as hell can't stop it.

To generalize about resource-based media propaganda and call it science seems shortsighted. Significance of "anthropogenic climate change," which is climate change caused by human activity, is downplayed by some data-driven scientists like high-ranking Freemason and catastrophist Randall Carlson. He considers ice core and deep-sea sediment data, and concludes natural climate change is much more relevant than anthropogenic. He also believes the climate consortium "research" is skewed, bought, and paid for to lean away from natural causes. For some scientists the climate change debate has barely begun because there are so many factors beyond human impact on the planet to consider, and evidence suggests that the scope of investigation needs to be broadened (e.g. roles of terrestrial and celestial forces.) My hypothesis (educated guess) is that anyone who thinks that humans have a larger impact on Earth's climate than the Sun does is probably stoned (Al Gore included.)
