Got an Incredibles limited edition 2015 100mg bar, its white chocolate and pop rocks. Dos Equis, Crown Royal, tons of herb. Its like -20 here in Colorado. Just chillin, happy brew years!  

No edibles tonight, I dont think... maybe, who knows? 

By chance, today is the first and only day that it will be once again approaching -20. Weird. I was in shorts at work yesterday, it almost hit 55. We even got a tiny bit of snow.

Two days off starting now! Got Coors Light, Sam Adam's Winter Ale, vodka, endless herb and dabs... who knows?

Not picking man I swear. Its just something you seem very educated in. Many people have their niches here of things they seem to be "very educated" in. Ive smoked maybe 2 handfuls of times in my entire life. Just knocks me out. Then a lot of things just make me tired. Drinking, smoking pot, sex, being awake for more than 7 hours...

The wife is doing the keto thing, and she didnt know that most liquors are zero carbs so I got her a boddle of vootka. Hoping she will have at least a drink with me soon. 

Karacalla... jambalaya rocks and I would love to try some of yalls. I usually just do spins on the boxes Zatatarain's stuff. I made some gumbo the other day and it was great.

Yeah -20 windchill here... I'd enjoy your 70 plus degrees, muggy or not.

As far as absinthe, I wont rewrite my tale cus I posted it here before... but the night ended in my brother arrested on leave and I dont remember anything at all. Shit was crazy.

Zatarains is as close as you can get to our authentic jambalaya, depending on if you made it correctly, other than visiting here and having a chef prepare it for you on the spot. Gumbo has so many different variations, but at its core, it's easy-moderate to make, depending on what's going in it.

Gumbo, the dish, is sort of like the gumbo of culture down here, it derived from many different backgrounds and ethnicities....German,French,West African, Native American,Spanish...all had a hand in its modern conception.

Good for you for making and enjoying a part of our history Old Mr.D, I hope you did it justice and rocked that shit man!

Wife makes zatarains a lot but that was my first gumbo. Pretty spectacular, too. Someday we will have to meet up and you can try my mom's real Buffalo style wings. No one around here or anywhere else seems to get it right and it's so simple. 

I'll try to find the Absinthe tale but I dont even know where to begin.

So being too lazy for details: oldest brother on week leave from Afghanistan. He likes Southern Comfort. He forced that down my throat and I had lots of beer. He then broke out three vials of green, yellow and red absinthe. We drank them. Went to a bar. It was freezing outside. I rememeber a guy yelling and holding my head on a table cus I couldnt lift it. Suddenly I woke up. My brother was in jail. Being a sociopathic military charmer of a guy, he got off Scot free, despite telling the officer "you're just mad cus I fucked your wife" and kicking up the car windows. When he got out he chastised me for "bailing out during a fight" with I dont even know who. I dknt remember any fight. Just that guy yelling at me for a second, I sensed he was embarrassed about something. I dont even know if that was the guy in question or guys. Basically the combo of absinthe and alcohol took me away to another place.  

I would imagine the Buffalo wings I eat at wow wingery, or any other place, wouldn't have shit on the real McCoy. Authentic cooking will always be far superior to mass produced food. If ever given the chance, I'm honored, and graciously accept your offer to dine on some of those wings man. Thank you.

The absinthe story, wow, total fade to black huh. The way you described your brother is pretty similar to a friend of mine, also in the army. Same sociopathic tendencies. He was a pretty decent guy, but after his multiple tours in the middle east, he's literally batshit crazy now....and he gets off easy being a vet. Some of the stories he's told me in private, about what the was made to do overe there, would turn anyone crazy tho'. Childhood friend but he was so bad off, drug/alcohol abuse, I could only do so much and regrettably, I severed ties with him. I can't have someone like that around my wife and kids man. He was the only one of my friends that actually listened to ICP...like beyong the great melinko and its drove of casuals, lol. Oh, well.

Absinthe is a tricky bitch, depending on if it was made here, in the U.S., or over seas. Thujone is the culprit for its original banishment in the early 1900's and is still banned in food/beverages the states until this day. A chemist in New Orleans found a work around and made authentic absinthe legal once more, but it's famously psychoactive properties are no longer. So yea, its legal, but its the 40-70 proof alcohol content that gets you, not the green fairy anymore. Authentic absinthe, with the proper amount of thujone is alive and well down here, but its expensive. Just like with anything, someone always knows a guy...who knows a guy tho'. A couple of places in the French Quarter actually lost their liquor licenses for serving the real deal a few years back.

Let's just say, after the countdown last night, and everybody departed. Me and my wife broke out an old bottle of some sort of green liquid that a friend acquired for us whilst in europe and the annual new years eve twilight zone marathon on the Sy Fy channel t'was THE SHIT.
