The absinthe story, wow, total fade to black huh. The way you described your brother is pretty similar to a friend of mine, also in the army. Same sociopathic tendencies. He was a pretty decent guy, but after his multiple tours in the middle east, he’s literally batshit crazy now….and he gets off easy being a vet. Some of the stories he’s told me in private, about what the was made to do overe there, would turn anyone crazy tho’. Childhood friend but he was so bad off, drug/alcohol abuse, I could only do so much and regrettably, I severed ties with him. I can’t have someone like that around my wife and kids man. He was the only one of my friends that actually listened to ICP…like beyong the great melinko and its drove of casuals, lol. Oh, well.

Absinthe is a tricky bitch, depending on if it was made here, in the U.S., or over seas. Thujone is the culprit for its original banishment in the early 1900’s and is still banned in food/beverages the states until this day. A chemist in New Orleans found a work around and made authentic absinthe legal once more, but it’s famously psychoactive properties are no longer. So yea, its legal, but its the 40-70 proof alcohol content that gets you, not the green fairy anymore. Authentic absinthe, with the proper amount of thujone is alive and well down here, but its expensive. Just like with anything, someone always knows a guy…who knows a guy tho’. A couple of places in the French Quarter actually lost their liquor licenses for serving the real deal a few years back.

Let’s just say, after the countdown last night, and everybody departed. Me and my wife broke out an old bottle of some sort of green liquid that a friend acquired for us whilst in europe and the annual new years eve twilight zone marathon on the Sy Fy channel t’was THE SHIT.

My brother got it from Germany possibly. On his way back home from Afghani. He brought me a frosted glass bong with blue camels on it. Two-hosed hookah, actually. I kept it in my camper across the road from my dad’s. I had my annual remembrance party for my first deceased brother and I remember smoking it with my mom of all people with others in the camper. She coughed so hard that she shot speckles of blood out, even with water in the bong. The bong caused an emotional episode with my dad because as I was showing it off, he started to yell and cry because he said “my boy didnt even give me a fucking CARD!!! and he gives you all of this??!” This is a highly personal thing but ah well. It was a cursed bong or something.

Also, he brought me this pair of Adidas that were bootlegged from Afghanistan and labeled “ASIDADS”. I’ll find em and take a photo if possible. They were the life of the party the other night.
