Greetings Juggalos and Juggalettes,
My name is Nick and I co-host a Podcast called Polishing Turds. We’re a music history/comedy podcast that examines so-called “bad music” with the intention of making a serious attempt to understand it before casting our honest, objective judgment. We’ve done this for such commonly hated-on artists as Vanilla Ice, Nickelback, Black Eyed Peas, Milli Vanilli, and more.
This summer we’re working on a series of episodes that take on Insane Clown Posse. As you all know the story of ICP goes way beyond the music; it’s about the Juggalo Family and the unique subculture they’ve created. I want to help our audience get a better sense of who Juggalos are as people, so to that end I’ve designed a Juggalo fan survey that I hope will help shed light on the community (we’ve done this for fans of other artists too).
You can fill out as much or as little of this survey as you like, I only ask for your honesty. I can’t promise you anything beyond my sincere thanks and my promise to do justice to ICP’s incredible body of work on our podcast.
I must say on a personal note that I came into this project knowing absolutely nothing about ICP beyond the negative stereotypes, but after researching their music for just a few weeks I’m astonished by how much of it I actually like. Moreover I am beyond impressed by the hard work J, Shaggy, and the Psychopathic crew put into building this empire. It’s an incredible story and I can’t wait to tell it to our audience.

Hell, I’m bored at work so might as well do this while I’m killing time.
- How long have you been a Juggalo? – Since 1998
- How did you first discover the music of Insane Clown Posse? My older brothers discovered ICP when they went to college and brought home Forgotten Freshness and Great Milenko for me on their first break back home. They played me “Halloween On Military Street” and I was hooked right away.
- Have you been to the Gathering of the Juggalos? No. I’m not into multi day festivals.
- In no particular order, what are 3 of your favorite ICP albums? Riddle Box, Milenko, AJB
- What other artists or types of music do you listen to? A lot of different stuff. 311, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Dr. Dre, Rage Against The Machine, Nirvana, Dick Dale, Beatles, Beach Boys, the list goes on.
- How many of your daily, real-life friends & family are fellow Juggalos? 2 of my brothers and like 3 of my friends. None of the above are super hardcore into it, but we all like ICP and talk about them a lot.
- Do you feel that ICP and Juggalos are misunderstood? If so, what is it that people misunderstand about the band and the community? Mostly, yes. There definitely is a percentage of Juggalos that fit the “stereotype”, but I think that’s a much smaller percentage of the total Juggalo population than outsiders would think. Most of us, myself included, are just regular middle class people that you’d never suspect was a Juggalo by outward appearances.
- Have you ever faced any kind of discrimination (from employers, law enforcement, family, or just regular people) due to being a Juggalo? If so, can you share some examples? No, just have taken a little bit of shit from a few friends that don’t like ICP when they find out I’m a fan, but it’s all good natured.
- How has ICP and/or the Juggalo family positively impacted your life? I just like the music. I discovered ICP when I was 14 and the mix of horror, comedy, wrestling references, etc. just really spoke to me in terms of entertainment. I am an instrumental producer for horror and sci-fi based projects and definitely look at Mike E Clark as an influence.
- What’s your favorite flavor of Faygo? I’ve had Faygo maybe twice ever. I rarely drink any kind of soda at all. I did make some rum drinks with peach Faygo once, so, I’ll say that.

How long have you been a Juggalo?
I’d say i wasnt familiar enough with the music or scene to consider myself a juggalo until 2006.
How did you first discover the music of Insane Clown Posse?
in 1999 my older brother took me to his friends house to hear “amazing jeckel bros.” when I got there dude was playing “command & conquer” which blew my mind. then my bro put on ICP which blew my mind. lastly, he booted up “GTA 2” which yet again blew my mind..

What other artists or types of music do you listen to?
theres not a genre i dislike.. lately ive been listening to a lot of old country, doo wap, & soul.. as well as a lot of pop, rock, & different hip hop sub-genres..
How many of your daily, real-life friends & family are fellow Juggalos?
1 friend. a lot of acquaintances.
Do you feel that ICP and Juggalos are misunderstood? If so, what is it that people misunderstand about the band and the community?
yes. the notion that all juggalos are white trash isnt accurate. if you go to a concert in arizona or new mexico majority of the crowd is native or hispanic. also people tend to listen to the music not wanting to like it, you gotta have an open mind with this kinda stuff.
Have you ever faced any kind of discrimination (from employers, law enforcement, family, or just regular people) due to being a Juggalo? If so, can you share some examples?
a cop pulled over me & a group of juggalos walkin back to school once.. also if you make a valid argument about hip hop people tend to throw the juggalo card in ur face. like “what do u know, ur a juggalo.”
How has ICP and/or the Juggalo family positively impacted your life?
it helped me with being fully against racism.. being able to quickly notice superstition in myself & others. & ICP being so for heaven and against hell has helped me want to lead a more righteous path, as I can identify with the overall sentiment they push.

My cousins and their homeboys used to bump a lot of underground hip-hop in the early 2000s

No(I did see the last Hatchet Attacks, which was for Juggalos who couldn’t make GOTJ)

Boom bap, G Funk, Funk, Classic Rock, Southern Rock, Americana, Classic Country, Soul, R&B(60’s-00’s), Blues, Bluegrass, Reggae, Ska, Southern Hip Hop, Hick Hop, Techno, Pop, Classical, Ranchers, Tejano, Nuevo Mexicano, Cumbia and Reggaeton.

I can to my dad and like three homies about ICP.
Do you feel that ICP and Juggalos are misunderstood? If so, what is it that people misunderstand about the band and the community?
Yes, I think ICP is either not taken seriously enough for their artistry or taken way too literally for their lyrical content.
Have you ever faced any kind of discrimination (from employers, law enforcement, family, or just regular people) due to being a Juggalo? If so, can you share some examples?
Yes, in my high school you could be written up for wearing gang apparel if you were seen wearing any type of Psychopathic records merchandise
How has ICP and/or the Juggalo family positively impacted your life?
The Dark Carnival reinvigorated my faith when it was at an all time low and helped me realize that lost souls need faith the most.
