Seriously though, just ignore him. Don't reply, don't humor him, don't argue with him. He is clearly either a shit troll or a massive retard. Neither of those things need anyone's attention.

Anyway... Winter is upon us and its time for those winter time lures. Just because its cold and the fish are a bit lethargic doesnt mean you gotta hang up the poles till spring. Throw on a lipless crankbait rattle trap, slow working jigs, and some jerkbaits to find those bunched fish hanging in the thermacline or occasionally up shallow to breath of feed.  Went this afternoon for a little while and got a hungry little guy on an ozark trail lipless crank.

You said your from NC, yes? How is your weather this time of year? It snowed here half of today, just enough to make the ground white, not enough to add up with a ruler. Cold i can kind of deal with, kind of. That wind whipping thru the trees or open fields is way harsh. My hands and feet freeze quick.

I miss fishing. I didnt renew my license yet this season. Been so busy and overwhelmed. Honestly, after all the shit we've been through, I have been the laziest in my life. I still deep clean the house when needed, fix simple things and upkeep in vehicles, play with my kids, etc. But on days off I can barely move. It's like I'm catching up after such a shitty few years. We were forced to move out in June and now it's like I am just recharging my batteries. Also I'm sick. On some Nyquil.

Back to fishing... I'm going to cut back my drinking a lot from this point on. For health, money and sanity. So that means more time for fishing. Unfortunately the area here is quite landlocked. But I'll be giving some fish holes another chance after some disappointments.

Anyone fished Colorado before?

Never got into fishing but we used to go with my grandpa when we were kids. It's very urban here so we would have to go far out to the boonies and I hated it.

For a summer as a teen we visited family in New Mexico who lived on a lake and we would catch our dinner often. That was more fun.

Its def not for everyone but for alot of people it gives them an opportunity to disconnect with reality and focus on one goal. For me its a passion that makes it easy for me to escape into and forget that there is a life outside of this goal that isnt so simple. And the rush of feeling a fish bite and fight on my line is as great as walking onto a stage the first time or jumping into a wrestling ring. I love it. Didnt appreciate it as much as a young kid because we would go all the time, but as i got older, i find myself drawn back to the water harder and harder.

The weather has finally been bearable with only a light jacket. Got a little bit of fishing in last weekend with no stories to tell. Was a beautiful quirt time at the lake tho, one cant go wrong with that. Yesterday after work i did a little more and ended up catching two. Well one and the other got away on a branch sticking out of the water. Blue ( or purple) jelly worm, #1/0 hook, 6 or 8lb line.

Probably 9 inches total from head to tail. I threw it back cause im waiting for that wall trophy. The one that got away was at least 2 lbs and would have made for a much nicer picture.

Today were both going out with her father and grandfather. I hope our luck is better.

Will post pictures if were successful.

What are you boys paying for a license? Ours is $19, pole limit is 2. In PA being a non resident it comes up to something like $76 with the Erie stamp and trout stamp. Yup have to pay extra for catching trout and fishing in lake erie.

Yesterday we got to the lake with less than ideal conditions. But the story starts before all that when we get to her dads house. Turns out grandpa didnt want to go cause he said he had the poops. My thought was less shit to worry about. Then they ask dads cousin if he wanted to go, he said yeah and started on his way over. Before he got there we got a visit from another cousin, the neighbor, and another neighbor. I thought we were never going to leave. Finally the car is packed, everyone leaves, and were on the way to the bait shop. Now the bait shop guy is dads buddy. Their both diehard fish heads and their both always right. Or their both right and just cant find the right way to explain it so the other will realize and it just leads to round and round conversations. Another half hour there and were on the road again. Next stop, restrooms! First stop had no public restrooms but we got sodas and back in the car. Cant go wrong with peeing at McDonalds, they always have restrooms. Next stop we need licenses and weighted bobbers. An hour and a half late and we finally see water, and wind. Which brings choppy waters. Well we dont actually see the wind but hang with me. We get poles out of the car, chairs, tackle, dad. And the wind is coming in pretty strong from the front right of us. Casting was at max 15-20 feet, then reel in 3 mins later cause your bobber was in front of the guy beside you, and cast again. Mandy googled the weather and it was said wind was 13mph but was supposed to slow down so we toughed it out a little. Im 5'4 and weigh 118 lbs, i was almost sliding across the concrete. (Exagerated of course) Well go with less than ideal fishing conditions.

First fish on after about 2 hours of fighting the wind, and it feels beefy. Not a monster but it felt good to have that pull backwards while reeling. You fishermen know that feeling. I fight for a little and pull in a 3-4lb catfish.

Not a good angle cause you cant see the belly, but she was a chubby fish.

The wind slowed down a little, her brother and his family showed up, and 2 hours later the second fish was caught. It was her dads pole, he set the hook and let mandys neice reel it in. She fought for a min, finally got it on shore, and BOOM, it was smaller than mine. But only by a little. Fuck Yeah! Im down for kicking the ass of a 58 yr old man and a 9 yr old little girl while fishing. 2-3 hours later and it was time for another McDonalds run, this time for hot coffee. Sun set, wind slowed, but that briskness of night started setting in. It got chilly. While we were gone dad caught a small white bass and threw it back. Then as we were packing up the car to leave he caught a small crappie. For those of you that dont fish its pronounced "croppie", not the same "crappie" as a bowel movement. Then he caught another crappie. It was then time to dig around for a tape measure. Who has a handy tape measure? Do we know where one is? "I got one!" Rule is no less than 9 inches. This crappie ended up being 11 inches so we win. Finally all in the car we head home and crash hard. Like really hard. I started early and fell slightly comatose on the car ride home.

I pay 10 bucks for an annual fishing license freshwater. No extra charge for poles or species of fish. So im lucky there. But bro that sounded like alot of trouble and running around. Thats kinda what happens when i take my wife fishing. A ton of people end up tagging along, which isnt that big a deal, until it holds me up. My wife has learned by now though, if it holds me up from getting to the water, i will leave everyones ass at home and dip out without even saying goodbye. I plan out my trips days ahead, make sure i got license, bait, everything i need. That way i can just go straight to the water. So it pisses me off to be held up or make extra trips after i do all that prep work days in advance.  Anyway, that is a nice bullhead looking catfish bro.  I love catfishing. Gives you a chance to relax, drink a beer and take in the outdoors while you wait for a cat to suck up your bait.  And an 11 inch crappie is a good size. Get about 6 more or so like that and sizzle up some fries and hushpuppies, coleslaw, ect.  Damn i just made myself hungry...

Thats true homie. The fishing industry brings in alot of money to keep things rolling. And the taxes on it all help the lakes and species for all us fishermen who want to keep catching them. Just the trout hatcheries alone pull in tons of revenue for the states to easily sustain their operations. It also makes the paychecks of the dickhead game wardens who show up and check all your licenses and gear... But hey, someone has to do it. Despite how annoying they can be i can see how it is necessary. Cuz some people dont follow the rules and abuse the system and it can def impact an ecosystem and make fishing tougher.
