Yeah the bible straight up condones slavery, this is not the only passage that references it, it sets a few guidelines in a different verse, and it says straight up in 1 Peter 2:18 that as a slave it is your godly duty to submit to your master, and specifically states that you are to do so even if he is cruel.

Religion is trash but the religious are not for the most part.

I'm losing track more and more if it's the majority, half, or the minority. 

It's probably because I hear nothing but horror stories. Don't get me wrong, most of the people I grown up around have been moderately religious, and a lot of them were amazing people. 

The pastor of the church I get dragged to is one of the nicest, most charitable, most compassionate, and most hard working people I've ever met.

On top of that, as a shit ton of fundamentalists have pointed out, a lot of people who identify as christians, like people who put it on the census and have given that gigantic nearly 80% statistic, generally don't follow it at all.

But from everyone else I know, I just hear the nastiest shit.

Firstly, all of my trans friends that grew up in the bible belt, yeah, they've been abused to hell and back, it's like all I ever hear. A lot of my friends have also been abused here all under religious pretense, my mom tried to have me signed up for shock therapy, at least some weird kind of it, but it's illegal to use on a schizophrenic, so she couldn't (I don't know the details of that one because she refused to give me the details). 

Christian schools have more horror stories than I can count, there are apparently mountains of examples of kids that may or may not have been lgbt (like as in they were just suspected of it, it wasn't concrete) have had the shit kicked out of them, and when they go to a counselor or teacher, they're basically told they deserve it, and to stop acting gay.

A lot of people talk about a "rape culture", which, in the secular western world, is bullshit, I've seen no compelling evidence, everything is a stretch, and seems to ignore how culturally we've decided it's the worst possible thing you could do, including me, I think that. 

I once wrote a song about doing morally questionable things, and one line had me sodomizing a rapist with a shard of broken glass, I rapped it infront of several people and none of them found a problem with that.

But anyways, there's pretty much definitive proof of such a culture among Jehovah's witnesses and the Mormons 

So the Jehovah's witnesses have a rule, (and this is my understanding, I might be oversimplifying it) you're supposed to go to the congregation before going to the police for a lot of shit, specifically if it involves other members. And it's them who decide if you should go to the police. And they have this rule, it's the two witness rule, and basically it says you need two people as witnesses or it didn't happen, so if you go to the police they will ostracize you, and in their context that basically means you life is over. Keep in mind this has nothing to do with a real tangible proof, if the police can prove it, that's that, but they say you're not even allowed to go to the police. And how in the actual fuck is there going to be two witnesses to rape. So they've spent thousands and thousands of dollars covering up crimes as well as paying for gigantic lawsuits, all in an attempt to upkeep their image, it's fucking disgusting. 

As for the Mormons, most moderate mormons (people I grew up going to school with) don't have that big a problem, but moderate mormons aren't that common compared to other sects of Christianity. Anyways, they have these purity tests, where basically minors, kids, teenagers, etc. are quized on a bunch of super creepy things that no adult should ever be asking a kid. And if they fail the quiz you lose certain "holy" privileges 

And the questions they ask rape victims are the most disgusting things ever, keep in mind some of them were under the age of 18. I don't feel like writing them all down, so here's someone talking about it. (the really bad shit is near the end)

Keep in mind, this isn't about proof or legality, this is about deciding if the victim is a bad person, IF THE VICTIM IS A BAD PERSON. Keep in mind that self blame is something that just happens, I'm not a psychologist so I don't really know why, but it does and this makes it so so so so much worse

They support anyone who tells them a pleasant lie and cry freedom while stripping rights away from their fellow Americans.

Seriously, If Christians were actually held to the standards and punishments within the bible, There would be no more Christians and you know I'm not exaggerating. 

Now don't think I'm singling out christians just because that's whats around me, 500 fucking versions of the same religion. 
Fuck all religion. Anything that robs you of your inner voice and ability to think for yourself. Their constant bullshit has done nothing but hold back scientific and social progress.

I don't say this because old people are an annoyance and drain on life, which they are. I say it as a way to help protect the planet. Free up some room. Use up less resources.
