A couple of things: Bigotry and discrimination based on national origin or religion is still bigotry, wouldn't you agree? It doesn't make it any less shitty just because the bigot is talking about where someone's from instead of skin color.

Secondly, do you know what a dog whistle is? The terms certain (racist) people use so that they can get away with expressing their racist without sounding like a racist? All this talk on "it's a nationality" or "it's a religion" is a well know dog whistle. Maybe YOU don't feel that way, personally, but you are giving cover to a lot of people who do.

Taking everything literally makes it really easy for people to use double speak.  

I always enjoy using my own example: the guy that killed my brother was black. He never even went to jail. Another black guy broke my brother's jaw out of bullying and never served a second. He spent the last months of his life in anguish. All of this and I still dont hate any black people besides those two. Lastly, my other brother was indirectly killed by Muslim soldiers. I dont hate any Muslims besides one dude I know who ironically a caucasian Muslim.

Base it on the individual.
