was looking at a book about old time actors and found this
now that's a fucking racist, his children are racists and his grand children are racists and they should pay restitution to black people because of it, whoever published the book is a fucking racist and all proceeds from the book should go to black people because you know #racism
is that what it feels like to be a Bernie Sanders supporter??

I also can get bouts of RLS. The THC CBD CBC compound works wonders for that.
As far as CBD by itself, man I could go on all day. You have to make sure that it is sourced from full plant and not just hemp seed oil, or else you are missing the entourage effect of combined cannabinoids.
I'll put it to you this way: for some lucky folks, CBD is enough to handle their pain and anxiety etc. But the truth is that the majority needs at least a trace of THC for the process to begin. The cannabinoids (and flavanoids and terpenes, but that is another story) compliment eachother in such a way that you begin actual activation. CBD alone doesnt do shit for most of us. This is why people cry "snake oil!" about CBD. There are too many factors involved... such as purity of the CBD source and if you actually need the trace of THC (or other cannabinoids).
Research the endocannabinoid system... CB1 and CB2 receptors... terpenes and flavanoids... different cannabinoids. There is so much being done right now. Good things.

I refuse to take anxiety or depression medicationI don't personally feel like it would benefit me to see a doc about it but I can understand not everyone is like me
Used to be the same way because I had a distrust for the medical field but I assure you it really really helps to get a therapist. The problem is getting the right therapist that's compatible for you.
And for meds always always always do some outside research. The mental health system is broken as is. Right now general doctors are allowed to prescribe psyche meds even though they aren't really qualified in psychiatry. So never get meds from a general doctor. A therapist needs to have a psychology degree to prescribe medication. But I would always get a prescription from a psychiatrist. Always. Psychology is based on the mind, they're job is to help you cope with trauma and find ways to deal with situations that you're struggling with. It's good for PTSD, OCD, Psychopaths and Sociopaths. Psychiatry, while of course it does cross over into psychology and eventually both studies will merge into one including neurology, is more about the brain chemistry. It's the safer profession to receive medication from since meds are meant to alter the brain chemistry. So that's clinical anxiety, clinical depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

You may not accept this due to you seeming to be blind to America's faults, Psyral, but a lot of the mental illness issues in our country are symptoms of our own culture. We could talk all day about it... the roots lie in everything from food additives, lack of essential vitamins we used to imbibe naturally, media propaganda, Ronald Reagan's decisions during his terms, pharmaceutical company practices, doctor commission greed, mass hysteria, misinformation, social pressure... very very little of it has to do with your "parents not teaching coping skills". It is lazy to accuse the invisible parents in your head that you haven't actually seen, I guess. The whole "rugged individualism" nonsense from The Great Depression days was proven to be a lazy and tragic attempt at restoring a country's shattered mindset.
Man, I love you despite how often we yell at each other. Modern culture is extremely unhealthy especially living in a corrupt form of capitalism. Everything you mentioned is adding to the epidemic of mental illness especially in the information age where it's all in our faces and we can't hide from it anymore. Our parents could never have prepared us for the internet and the effects it'd have on our mind. Social media creates anxiety, it creates depression and it has isolated us from each other while constantly under the scrutiny of people that overly judge behind the safety of a computer screen. Tack on the fact that we also know much more about mental health than the previous generations that believed and pushed harmful stigmas. And I personally wouldn't want to trust the people that thought they could cure homosexuality to teach me how to cope with depression and anxeity. Fuck, back then they used to scramble your brains over that shit. I would have been lobotomized.
Another interesting thing I've been looking into. So neurological disorders like bipolar and schizophrenia are genetic. You can inherit that from your parents. This is commonly known. I also found out while researching bipolar and PTSD after being diagnosed that neurological disorders can be triggered by extreme trauma. A good example is I have a friend who has schizophrenia but he didn't start hallucinating until his dad killed his step mom and I guess he got bullied really hard about it in school. (What kind of piece shit bullies somebody for something like that?) So I had this theory that people can go through trauma that triggers a neurological disorder that then becomes genetic so in a why trauma becomes genetic. Turns out that of course I'm not the first to have that idea and they call it inter-generational trauma. Unfortunately there is not a lot of research on that subject but I think it's important to consider when looking at the history of our country and some of the fucked up shit we've inflicted on people.
And welcome back @demented-smoka , lurking on the forum. Long time no see.

Also to blame are children's books, which have taken a dark turn since the pharmaceutical lobby bought public education at a Clinton yard sale.
Yay being such a capitalist country that we think rehabilitation and medical institutions should be part of the free market rather than state owned like those dirty socialist libraries.

Man, Bill Clinton really was a fucking garbage president.
He's a sex offender, probably a pedophile, hardened crime and drug laws, created the three strike rule that fed into the industrial prison complex, passed the bill of unregulated bank loans that lead to the 2008 recession and started the trend of Democrats becoming more centralist and right leaning rather than opposition of conservative values.
In comparison to Bush, who's biggest fuck up was the war in Iraq which I don't think was his idea because he was an obvious puppet to the rest of the party, Bill was much worse. Bush just kind of inherited the blame. Well, he did see the economic crash coming and decided not to regulate bank loaning based on advise from his peers . He did also add to the deregulation of bank loaning. So he's still guilty just not to be blamed as much as Bill. He also banned assault rifles which was kind of cool.

Wow, we must all be on the same clowny page. I’m just now getting around to watching it (2017) tonight. It’s a decent enough movie. The cgi takes me out of it quite a bit. I guess it’s a product of its time. Sorta like the og mini series adaptation. A product of its time and constraints. If the image and idea of the remake would have been made back in the 90’s instead of having to be made for tv I feel like it would have benefited. I like both for what they are but I’m a sucker for practical effects. Looking forward to part 2 but still skeptical. The wife said we might go see it in theaters. As for now, I must return to enjoying SNES games on my Switch with a 8bitdo snes30 controller. Playing classic games on a portable screen with a wireless controller in my bed while sipping a beer. What a time to be alive

Were supposed to be seeing IT 2 tonight also. We did a refresher last night.
I havent read the book either. Hell i dont think ive read anything since Hatchet or Where the Red Fern Grows in school. Books intimidate me and i have a problem retaining information in books. Its like i read it, understand it, then lose it. After gotj 2-3 years ago i bought the ICP and the World They Made book, read a quarter of it, and cant remember anything about it now.
Iris, my dad had severe back/neck issues, dont know exactly what but the Drs prescribed morphine pills for the pain. He would wake up, have his morning coffee, pound 2 beers and snort a morphine pill before getting up and doing anything. I think its a little funny to say 'yeah, my dad snorts morphine for breakfast'.

Good morning, Late Night Squad and all. I fell asleep drunk/high in my beanbag chair. Since we were forced to move into this small apartment temporarily, we decided to storage most of our stuff and get beanbag chairs for comfort. Why? Because our lease is only 6 months and we are hoping to find a house by then... fuck lugging a huge couch and bed frame up some narrow ass stairs. We are ready to evacuate at a moment's notice.
Back to "IT".... so much to discuss. Okay, I enjoyed the new version of Part 1. Some parts were improved from the miniseries. Most of the young actors, for instance. Although the originals did well. The kid who played Bill actually killed himself years later, yall remember that? He was in "Neverending Story 2" and "Ladybugs". Gives the original "IT" a weird vibe. Also the homie John Rittee died sort of young. Anyway, it was a different time. I am one of the minority that is much more disturbed by this original film than the newer interpretation. There are subtle scenes like near the end when Bill sees a lady and a little boy with their backs to him, playing a piano. It is just a weird, random scene where Billa admits that he can no longer trust his own sanity. Things like that were more atmospheric and scary to me. The new one was packed too full of jump scares. It lost the impact quickly.
And the new gentleman who plays Pennywise does great. He actually seemed more like an otherworldly being at times, which is what IT is. But scary? Nah. Tim Curry pulled something fucked up out of himself and portrayed it well in the miniseries. There is something timeless about it. Plus it's hard not to laugh at this:
Funny shit. Moving right along... hopefully I'll be seeing the new one tonight.
Those of us that read the book (and Drunkalo, if book intimidate you, then this 1000+ page tome will make take the wrinkles outta ya nutsac, and possibly fade ya butt hairs) feel a certain connection with that world. We are protective of it, kind of like if we were to see "The Insane Clown Posse Movie" being released next year. We would be up in arms, snipping at peeps for claiming they were down before but were faking the funk!! Goes for "The Dark Tower" as well, but the less said about the movie version, the better.
My homie Slumerican gets it. The book affects you in some unforgettable way. Makes me wish I still read more than 3 or 4 books a year.
Lastly, the theme of kids being alone in the world and the adults not caring at all is what stuck with us the most back in the day. Folks that used to chat about Stephen King books, wow I miss that. Hanging out in the public library with homies and we marveled how on the certain paperback cover of "IT", Pennywise's eyes would follow you no matter what position you set it in. My boy Levi was rearranging it on tables and shelves and we were creepily cracking up.
