So, with the general ruckus going on here for the last few months (well more ruckus then is normal) i feel like i hit a snag personally.

no this isnt a thread about me jumping ship again. Its finding inspiration in art again.

What inspires you to do what you do?

For me its was post mortem boredom. i stopped making music about 10 years ago, thinking i wasnt going to get rich and signed by psychopathic so why bother (yep, thats the dream i had, dont judge haha).

But with the release of pmb it reopened alot of old thoughts, i never really stopped writing verse, i just stopped writing them down.

more specifically it was @scruffy . yeah tell me how im dickriding, i don't mind.

Your verse on Live or die, awoke something in me i havent felt in a long time. the whole mixtape was pure gold to my ears, but that particular song made me want to try again, but not for money. for the sake of making art.

I want to thank you man, you rekindled a passion i long thought dead.

So what inspires other people out there? not just music, but everything and anything you feel passionate about.

it tickles me to no end that pmb is a source of inspiration.

and im tremendously humbled that you would find inspiration from me, individually.  you are most welcome.

in fact, thank you, for feeling that way.  that makes up for every snotbag critic or shitheel promoter ive ever had to fuck with.

i was initially inspired to make music simply because it was a creative artform that i hadnt tried out yet.  i been drawing since before i could talk.  at various points ive gotten into painting, sculpture, writing, theatre, film [which is to say, video], and on and on ad absurdum.  music was another outlet for creativity, and as it turned out, a lot of fun to make, so i stuck with it.

what motivates me today, musically, is primarily that i have not said everything i wanna say, yet.  theres still a ton of songs and projects ive never gotten around to completing, stuff that i pretty much gotta get to before i croak.  my groups seminal album, for one;  a solo album, for another.

also, there are people i want to do work with, that i have hopes for collaborations with.  you yourself are quite high on that list.

surely, i aint really made it a giant priority, lately [and i apologize for that], but someday...

maybe we should restart that process.  i really feel that i owe you one, on that score, and thats not a sentiment that applies to very many others.

in a more pointed sense, i get inspirations from whatever sources present themselves.  might have a line pop in my head that i wanna build a track around, a beat that i dig, even just bein blazed and wantin to make noise.  could be almost anything.

i could ramble on about this for hours.

outside of music, my biggest inspirations are definitely my friends.  many of yall here, included.

family, somewhat, but not exactly the way you mean.  i will say, though, when it comes to drawing and visual media like that, my uncle was a major inspiration, back when i was a youngn.  the major art project i have going, is directly ripped off of inspired by many of his works, from when he was a youngn.

  awfully paranoid, arent you?

that's what its all about. that's really cool man.

That inspires me. To know that something was made to make someone want to start or restart music is fresh. even if what inspires you is in a forum. just to see a sense of comradery over a song or verse makes me want to write/record something.

i started doing music in 2000, just messing around, nothing serious. stopped in 02, made a song in 06, and started again in 10. Im not really sure why i wanted to start again. i think lyrics started popping into my head, and i started jotting them down and recording. Then as i kept doing it, i noticed i had like, 60 songs within the span of 2 years. Then i came here, put myself out there, which was a big step for me, because prior to, nobody but myself has heard my stuff. hooked up with Resolution5, some cats on Soundcloud, then scruffy, then we put together that PMB project, and the feedback from that wanted me to keep going, so i don't plan on stopping. i work off feedback, whether its good or bad, it makes me want to improve from what my last song is. And i like to work with others aswell.

I can listen to any music and get inspired. Sometimes lines pop into my head, and i just start writing, and connect the dots.

i don't plan to go anywhere with my music, and very aware that it will never leave these forum pages, but im fine with that. aslong as 1 person likes what i do, it will inspire me to do another one. even if im a nobody.

actually, probably this time last year, scruffy told me that he thought i had something, and gave me some compliments and critiques, in PM,  and that's what really wanted me to do more. so thanks!

I'll fuck you till you love me, Faggot!

Health & happiness of my self & family motivates me to keep moving & learning. I don't put a lot of stock in words anymore, unless they unlock some higher function to life. The idea of "The Art of Life" really appeals to me, and the movie The Last Samurai inspires me to appreciate the world and to feel connected to it. WHOOPWHOOP! and for those who don't whoop,

I gave up making music over a decade ago cause I shared the same dream Novacaine. At the time I was working with local rappers/musicians in the area and I felt more comfortable on a mixing board than standing in front of a microphone. I'm not inspired musically any longer. Although I have thought about getting back into making beats but with how my schedule is, I don't have the time to mess with it. I do WANT to though.

But what inspires me everyday to get outta bed is simply money. Mo' money.

on a non music tip, the thing that inspires/motivates me to get out of bed every evening off 3 hrs sleep is that the mortgage has to be paid and food needs to be bought so we can all have shelter and stay alive.

I wish I had motivation to work out.  I guess in a weird no homo way, LTB inspires me to WANT to work out and get some muscle definition , but im just too lazy, and don't get enough rest to have the energy to do it. I just need a swift kick in the ass I guess.

I've pretty much always been around music, my Uncle played in a lot of bands, and my parents had an extensive record collection. It all started because I thought playing guitar would be a fun thing to do, and it went from there. The inspiration has always been something I can't quite define, I just have this need to create. I also get a good bit of inspiration from wanting to leave behind a legacy of sorts. I want people to be able to look back not only at my work, but at the work of my friends as well, that's why I started my podcast, and organize music fests. I don't really plan on having kids, so whatever art I create, and relationships I develop are what I'll leave behind. I guess you could say "the human experience" is my greatest inspiration.

I've always wanted to do some kind of music since I was in the 6th grade. The shit I wrote then, well, wasn't good at all. I wrote something else in 7th. Never recorded it. Then, around 9th, I wrote something that was actually recordable, shown my brother, and he was blown away.

Thats the first recording, I've shown before but I'll do it again. I was 14 at the time.

http://youtu.be/oqmExRnFhaA

Then, came on here, realized that there's a LOT more work needed to make music that's actually somewhat listenable. So, you guys kinda inspired me. Because, I think, that my music quality went a little bit downhill after my first couple songs. I took your guys advice. And now, I'm gonna be on the new FLH tape. I think that's fuckin' awesome.

My friend and Kid Rock I guess kinda inspired me, my friend said to make music like Chex Mix, a little bit of every style, some rock here, singing there, rap here, dark, positive, whatever. And Kid Rock, he went from like, Rap, then Rock, and Country, and I really think that's cool.

The rest it like Monoxide said, "the rest is still being written like a biography"

My wife and now my children are the current driving factors in life. The need to stay strong and continue using my unique form of rambunctious cautiousness in life is extra important in the aftermath of the death of my two brothers. And fallen friends, but mostly my brothers.

As Hunter Thompson pointed out, we are all wired into a survival trip now. If I had kept in practice with writing and art, I could've easily entered into that world. Life happened too often, and as driven as I am, I remain lazy in my creative aspects. I take full blame. I am not too unhappy about not pursuing the talents I was blessed with; I sometimes wonder if being creative would have ever worked out. To explain this would take longer than I have patience or time for currently. So I do quietly mourn that possible alternate reality of someone who wrote books, drew pictures and made beats for a living as opposed to a cannabis dispensary manager that worked blue collar gigs for nothing his whole life. Driving trucks, dishwashing, janitorial, managing a darkroom, electrician, landscaping... so much time spent.

I used to make music under the name Old Mr. Dangerous, an inside joke with my brother, who went as DJ Big Texas. When he died, I think I made no more than a dozen beats. We used to collaborate and make solos just for fun. Just goofy, sample-ridden hip hop-ish music, rarely rapping. Putting the mp3's onto an actual CD and actually bumping them in front of flabbergasted strangers at the cpunty fair was just priceless. I don't have the time, the drive, the heart anymore.

Also, psilocybin, dextromethorphan hydrobromide, lysergic acid diethylamide, cannabis, and the like were MAMMOTH inspirations in who I am today. I regret nothing, despite wanting things to have went differently at times.

I've grown up around a lot of rap music my whole life. Before I even realized I wanted to do music I really looked up to Eminem. I've always been creative and had these ideas in my head for stories and other stuff, but what inspired me to start writing music was ICP's Halls Of Illusions and Under The Moon. My first songs were very story driven. Slowly over time music became a crutch for me to express darker emotions locked away deep inside in a way that doesn't harm me or anybody else.

This thread has inspired me to record a forgotten song I've written way back when I was 12 or 13 called suffer. I remember gaining a bit of popularity for that song. Woooow. That's like 10 years old.

My father, my brother, duke nukem, johnny bravo, and several of my Sgt's; (Drill Instructor) Sgt Bernson; (Drill Instructor) Sgt Baez; (Combat Instructor) Sgt Beadouin; and (MPIC Instructor) Sgt Fox to name a few are some of the great men that have and continue to motivate, inspire, and otherwise drive me to better myself every day.
