It has been becoming more and more acceptable for metal artists to use autotune,

There's a lot of cool effects you can get from putting autotune on your instruments or other sounds that really hasn't been explored too much yet. Or at least that I'm aware of.  

I obviously have no problem with it being used as FX instead of training wheels, though it doesn't lend itself well to most genres of metal (I guess I could see it work in some prog tracks) 

As for autotuning instruments, I've always wanted to experiment with that. I mean like, what if you got a fretless bass but made it so it autotuned to the exact correct pitch, that would sound so trippy, imagine the slides and shit. And you'd have control over how weird it sounded, you'd just play closer to or further away from where your finger should be.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen anything like that, outside of dumb comedy videos I think. I wanna see that shit. 

You could fuck around with some pedals and see what things are brought.

There's a lot of cool stuff that haven't been tried.
