Older Juggalos will remember a toy called a Yak Bak…basically a small digital recorder that could record ten second clips. It came out in the early nineties.

My mom gave me one for Christmas. In the stores they left the ‘Say’ and ‘Play’ buttons exposed for kids to demo the thing before they bought it. Well, once I opened mine on Christmas morning my mom was like, Well son, show us all how it works.

So I hit the record button, whispered something in, then went to play it back.

Everybody suddenly got quiet and listened.

I hit play and the voice coming from the little speaker was not mine, it was a grown ass mans voice saying, “I dont know how this fucking piece of shit works”.

All you heard was gasps…

My dad was staring at me from the corner of the room like, boy what did you just say?!?!

My grandfather grabbed it from me to inspect it and in doing so, kept hitting the play button over and over, repeating the message that was already on it.

One of the best Christmases ever.

This is one I feel different on. Yes, great song, deep, meaningful, but I feel like people focused so much on it they ignored the rest of the album. Fuck the singles, the album as a whole was goodness. Here it is 20 years later and I can still sing most of it front to back.

Hows this, Did anyone get into Green Day with Kerplunk instead of Dookie? I know when Dookie came out everyone lost their shit but still. Kerplunk has a great sound.
