Chris Adler is drumming for the new Megadeth album. With the exception of United Abominations, Megadeth haven't crossed my mind in years but Chris Adler is a beast. In fact, he actually makes me excited for a Megadeth album again, which I assumed was something I would never experience again.

Supercollider was such a godawful, laughably bad song; I mean "Crush 'Em" or "Motopsycho" bad. I'm not sure Adler can save them at this point, but I'm still interested to see how it turns out.

I don't think good drums alone will save them but I think a large problem with Megadeth is Mustaine has surrounded himself with yes men. Even from the get go it was clear that it was Mustaine+others. That worked for a few albums because for a few albums he had his pulse on metal. That hasn't been the case for a long ass time and the result is that last piece of garbage they came out with (last couple really). Getting someone, no matter who it is, that has a little whereabouts in the metal scene and isn't afraid to say "I don't think we should do that, Dave" is a step in the right direction. It just so happens that the guy that's doing it is an incredibly talented musician, so even better.

Yes men, indeed. I feel like only their first four albums have stood the test of time. Honestly, I'm mostly just getting bored with the mainstream bands in general, even Slayer lacks the same "oomph" that initially drew me to them. Never imagined myself getting bored with Slayer.

I liked United Abominations but it most definitely won't hold up in ten years.

Slayer is a complicated situation for me. They've clearly never tried to change for mass appeal (closest they ever came was fucking God Hates Us All. Not really a title that screams "sellout" lol) and for that I have to credit them but at the same time, I get it. Hey look they're doing triplets and fingering through a chromatic solo.......again. That shit for its time was incredible and nothing that the average metal head had ever heard but they just keep writing the same goddamned album over and over.

I keep South of Heaven and Christ Illusion around for whenever I need a good thrash fix but beyond that, eh, they've done what they needed to do in metal.

Agreed. Although I will say they dabbled a tiny bit with the "Nu" sound on Diabolus in Musica, but they did it well. "The old guard" is on its way out, but I can't say many newer bands thrill me. Lyrics are predictable, angst-ridden drivel, in my experience I'd rather listen to bands that broke up long before I was even born. haha

Two amazing bands right there. I caught Gojira as an opener for In Flames years ago, that shit blew me away.

Has anyone heard of Killer Be Killed? Max Cavalera (Sepultura/Soulfly), Greg Puciato (Dillinger Escape Plan), Troy Sanders (Mastodon), and Dave Elitch (Mars Volta).

I was at that show too with in flames and gojira....great show that was.

Killer be killed is cool.I really like curb crusher...dope song.

Hey @juggahomilf420 , welcome! I love good metal (even did a metal show on college radio in Orlando.) Here's Ministry getting it right.

Uncle Al! Its a shame he's putting Ministry to rest but I can respect why he's doing it.

@krunkazphuk Have you ever heard of Revolting Cocks?

Yup, used to play RevCo while I cooked dinner. Pailhead is fun too, in a primal, dystopian way.
