Slipknot at the Palladium would’ve been pure chaos. You’ll have to let me know when you’re picking up tickets for the Slipknot/Manson. Would’ve seen Manson last year had ICP not performed the following day. Need to stay tuned for those Knotfest deals.
pure chaos was right…this was when slipknot still set themselves on fire, clown pissing in a can and drinking his piss….pure chaos…I remember I had to get out of the crowd for a minute to sit down keeping myself from passing out it was so fuckin hot and packed in there..Mudvayne opened for them and this was before anyone knew who they were…before LD50 even dropped. Good fucking times..
They said in a few weeks they will release the other dates so hopefully they will start selling tix….we need to get floor for the pit..no fun in the seats. KNotfest too….hell yes.
Shit, I caught Mudvayne on whatever tour they were pimping LD50 on (they weren’t headlining and I might be drunk but I think it’s the first time I saw Slipknot too) and they destroyed. I don’t even like them that much (redundant as all hell) but their live show was vicious.
On Corey Taylor leaving Slipknot; all he said was that at SOME POINT he’ll step away because he’ll be too old to deliver the energy the band deserves. That’s it. With that said, I certainly wouldn’t be upset if Anders jumped back in. Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. is a truly unique metal album and the vocals only heighten what is already a chaotic clusterfuck of genre distortion. Man, I really like that fuckin album and would LOVE to hear what that O.G. Slipknot is capable of now that they’ve all grown as musicians.

While I do love my metal, I also love my industrial metal/rock stuff too. One band that I have listened to since 1992, well, not really a group, but just one person and that is Circle Of Dust. Klayton (Celldweller) is re-releasing his entire back catalog for the Circle of Dust project that he did and also is remastering them and a ton of bonus stuff. You can buy them over on his record label site – Fixt Records. Also, later this year, December 2016, he also will be releasing a new Circle of Dust album with all new tracks. Its been 20 years, give or take, since a Circle of Dust album was done. He did put out a new single, Contagion, and its awesome. If you would like to check it out, the track is below
Circle Of Dust – Contagion
Below is a sampler of the remastered debut album from Circle of Dust back in 1995. I think that is the one he is remastering, the 1995 debut. There is also a 1992 debut of the same album, but he remastered the material on the 1995 debut due to some issues with tracks, he says, on the 1992 Circle of Dust debut album

Slipknot and Manson are coming to Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. I have yet to experience Red Rocks, all I know is that it’s beautiful, the acoustics are perfection, ICP played there on my Hell’s Pit DVD, and I really might go see the metal there. Saw Korn for first time a few years back, phenomenal.

Was Davis doing the J Devil thing? I was blown away at how uncomfortable of a performance that is.

His whole JDevil schtick went away pretty quick it seems. I thought he was going to release an album for that project and if he did, well, color me confused! The only thing I have ever seen him do, regarding the JDevil project, was a song and video with Datsik, Infected Mushroom & JDevil – Evilution
I havent seen anything else he may have put out under JDevil, but this was the only thing I did see back in the day. But from the Korn camp, one side project I absolutely love is Brian’s group – Love and Death. Unfortunately the bass player for them parted ways, but they have put out a great album, some great videos and even Brian’s solo album – Save Me From Myself and book were great

Sorry for all the other posts tonight. Seems like I am dominating all the threads – that is what very bad insomnia will do to you at my age kids, but anyways…………
Anyone else excited for the new Otep album – Generation Doom?
When I first heard My Confessions waaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day, I was blown away. Shamaya truly has the most unique voice as a front woman for a group and her screams in My Confessions – holy hell. If no one has heard it before or forgot about it, lets refresh your memory with both the album version and a recent live version that Otep did
My Confession – album version

My Confession – 2012 live version
If you look closely during the live version, it appears Bane is now making a comeback, right? Ive always known that deep down inside of Bane, a rock star has always wanted to break free

therevwells, I was going to quote you but that would make this post way too long.
I’m glad the JDevil thing stopped. It wreaked of meth lol.
Tried out Love and Death because I had never heard of them. They’re certainly not bad but that’s the best I can give em. The bassist going away definitely takes away a large part of what makes them sound slightly different than a million other numetal bands. But that’s not my preferred genre so my ears are kind of def to it.
New Otep will get a listen for sure but I can never listen to more than one or two songs at a time from them. Her voice is unique in a good way but for every one good song there’s two “songs” that are a weird ass spoke word poetry things that just makes me want to punch a goth kid. Again, numetal isn’t my thing so maybe I’m just hearin em wrong.

Yeah. I had a feeling that meth or something else was involved with the JDevil and honestly, at least how I saw it, way too comical and glad it did stop.
Love and Death is not for everyone. Chemicals and The Abandoning are the two tracks and videos that I do absolutely love, because sadly, I can relate to the chemicals one and even The Abandoning as well – the message within that track. Now, with the bassist gone, honestly, I always thought he looked so darn goofy in his paint/get up that, at least for me, I have no issues with his departure, it sucks for them, but the guitar player – damn – for his age when he first joined, I think at age 16, he has some good talent
Otep – yeah, their last few albums were pretty meh, but I do hope Generation Doom is better. Yeah….Shamaya’s lyrics are not for everyone and I do agree though with you, but nothing is EVER wrong in punching a goth kid or even a emo kid, right? Even with the new album Coal Chamber put out this year, while their style surely is not for everyone, they still bring the passion they had back in the day, but now without the drugs!
Not sure if this will interest you or not, but another band had recently came back again and put out a new album and its quite awesome. Full Devil Jacket released Valley of Bones, well 2 versions of it. The first one was the one that was funded on Kickstarter or another crowd fund campaign and then they re-released it due to a new guitar player in the group and even added some new tracks and took others off. My favorite tracks on the album…well, they all are amazing but, Seven Times Down, Killers, and August – that track, August, wow!
Ill post a few vids for the above tracks and who knows, you may like them or not

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHv5_hvU3AA
Hope you enjoyed them and if you did, check out their site and pick up Valley of Bones http://www.fulldeviljacket.net/
For the uninitiated, yes, this is the same Josh Brown that left the group, went to rehab due to a heroin overdose, got clean, yes, became a Christian and then came out with Day Of Fire and did a few albums with them, then they broke up and FDJ got back to do a benefit show for a member that was dying or had already passed away. His faith, while personal and private, can be heard on the album in the track Blood Of The Innocent and its another amazing track, but for the rest of the album, its a more mature Full Devil Jacket dealing with the issues they went through and I, for one, am glad they are back

lol I’d prefer to not punch a goth kid cause, well, I’m old enough to get in trouble for that shit now.
I use to really like Coal Chamber but once I heard DevilDriver I couldn’t listen to em anymore. Other than the occasional nostalgia kick anyway. That new album didn’t get much rotation for me but it was definitely on me and not them. They made a solid Coal Chamber album and I had grown out of them.
So I hear a lot of bands that I like in Full Devil Jacket. Not even just metal bands but there’s some Foo Fighters in there (fuck you, I like Foo Fighters). Can’t say I’m sold on em yet but they’re absolutely worth looking into further.
The faith thing is an interesting topic to me. I know quite a few people that won’t listen to bands because of their personal beliefs. Never did understand that. Shit, I don’t even mind if a band pounds you over the head with their message *cough* *cough* Missing Link *cough* *cough* so long as it’s done creatively.
For example:
They’re a very, very, Christian band that make their message quite clear (in this tune, the world is ran by man and thus, wicked and we need to love god) but goddamn (heh) they’re good.
And Living Sacrifice are more brutal than most “Satanic” bands that lure you in with the evil gimmick and never deliver.

Way back in the day here in Lansing, MI, Living Sacrifice actually did a tour here at The Underground (church basement) and it was during their Reborn tour and opening for them was Klank. Saw Klank and he was awesome….but, I had to leave before LS hit the stage, but, I am sure they tore it up.
Not sure if you have ever heard of Circle of Dust before, but that was what Klayton aka Celldweller was doing before he did his Celldweller stuff and he is re-releasing his CoD albums, remastering them, bonus stuff etc and he even got the ok from Living Sacrifice to keep their stuff on the Metamorphosis album Klayton did, a remix album featuring Circle of Dust, Living Sacrifice – before Bruce took over for vocals, and Brainchild – which is still Circle of Dust. In a few posts up, I had posted a new track that Klayton did as Circle of Dust and the link and info for the remasters from his record label FiXT over in Detroit, etc. Oh, and he is also remastering the Argyle Park – Misguided album too
Its always awesome to hear another person say that the faith thing is interesting to them and have no problem with it. There are so many great bands out there and while Christian, never bash it over your head, but instead, make you think with their lyrics. One of them that I dig still to this day is Sometime Sunday. Below is a couple videos/tracks from them – back when Tooth and Nail Records were good :p
index=2&list=PL41734439D990DE6D
Another one that comes to my mind is Poor Old Lu. While not metal, but more alternative, still had somewhat a chaotic sound and edge to them and in fact, some Christian stores did not want to stock their Sin album due to the topics. Here are a couple of tracks
But, this has got to be the best track out there that made a ton of noise due to its content, well, made a ton of noise in the Christian industry due to content. Plus, the video for it is too funny. Here they are doing a live version of it and I just love how the crowd sings along with the chorus….plus, if you have ever heard of HM Magazine, Lust Control is Doug Van Pelt’s band he has been in for quite some time
Most of the stuff I listen to today still, artists that I grew up listening to and most of them, not many people have heard of them and its always nice to show them stuff from time to time. Spoken, Living Sacrifice, Becoming The Archetype, I could go on forever and ever, but here was the Metamorphosis remix album featuring Living Sacrifice tracks that got remixed, Circle of Dust remixes and Brainchild remixes
Here is Klank if you are interested – this is the one that opened for Living Sacrifice

Sorry for the long reply once again, but yeah….Ive got nothing but time on my hands….and oh, here is the new Circle of Dust track if you are interested below – Contagion

Also, nothing wrong with the Foo Fighters at all and I must say, their latest “video” was genius
Also, still to this day, I still jam out to those bands, hardcore bands, back in the day that were labeled Krsnacore – 108, Run Devil Run, Shelter, Baby Gopal, even a few Kula Shaker songs, even though they were not hardcore at all, Cro-Mags, and even Don Foose’s new project he did a few years ago – Foose. He was the lead vocalist for Run Devil Run

Yeah, I saw their band announcement. Pretty good shit. There’s also a video of Grohl breaking his leg falling offstage and then coming back to finish the show. The way the band handled it and specifically the way Grohl handled it is hilarious.
Damn, dude, you’ve given me enough music to keep me looking into possible new bands for quite some time. Also, assuming you grew up christian, I’m quite impressed that you mentioned some good bands. That sounds shitty but you have to understand, whenever christian music comes up with me there’s almost always some asshole that mentions Stryper unironically. You did not do this. Thank you.

Specifically this song. Listening to this brought back memories of a whole period of my life that is both joyous and miserable at the same time.

Oh…here is some other good tunes you may like as well
I just had to do it. You brought them up and nah, did not grow up Christian at all. 16 I became a Christian and fell away for a few years and then converted at 21 to the LDS church and fell away back and forth there as well
Anything that is mid 90’s from Tooth and Nail Records is pretty good. If you like the punk/reggae style stuff of KMK at times, there is this group below you may like
Also, not ever sure if you have heard of Five Iron Frenzy, but they were huge back in the day, well, seeing how 2 members are no longer Christians, but are still in the band, their lyrical content has taken a bit more mature and dark tone
More recommendations would be as follows
Sometime Sunday, Poor Old Lu, Circle of Dust, Argyle Park, Chatterbox, Mortal, there is so much good stuff that it is so hard to recommend at times. Below are two great tracks from Argyle Park – featuring Mark Solomon from Stavesacre/The Cruicified/Outer Circle/Neon Horse/White Lighter etc
Also, here is some Chatterbox with a great track called Torque
Here is a fun project from the members of Project 86, Starflyer 59 and Stavesacre – NEON HORSE!
and for the last one, here is White Lighter – featuring Mark Solomon on lead vocals
Man…I love me some Green Jello/Jelly and the last I had heard, they were working on a new project, but that could just be a rumor. Not sure if you are into gaming or not, but the former lead singer for Sometime Sunday, Mikee Bridges, actually started a pretty cool gaming site
http://gamechurch.com/ – Uber Pwnage Since AD 33
Then, the last for now, a band you have probably already heard of Emery
Lastly….I lied, so here is one more. Yet another group within the Christian market that got a LOT of flack for their music and a ton for their last album they did together. The album was called Love Letters From Hell and I think the track Retail Slut pissed off a few parents or those in CCM, but if you like Marilyn Manson style, Rackets and Drapes come pretty close to him, but with a different message
And if you dig the vocal stylings of Danzig, then here is a group that, still to this day, I think was one of his best albums – Rose
Then we have Deliverance – some great stuff. They released one last album – Hear What I Say and it is amazing. Then we have Grave Robber if you are into Misfits stylings

Damn….I am beginning to sound like a walking record store. Oh well. Always nice to recommend good stuff to other people who may have NEVER heard of any of these groups, ya know. The funny thing with Klank aka Darren, is he now works as a welder for Ringling Bros Circus. Kind of a cool job – rock out and weld! That album I posted the video for – Still Suffering – well, the first 5 tracks were actually written for Circle of Dust – which was always just Klayton aka Celldweller, but he did take some guys with him when he did videos and live stuff and Klank was one of them.
Remember Criss Angel – Illusionist? Well, did you know he sings too? There was a project called….its a long title, so here we go – Angeldust – Musical Conjurings From The World Of Illusion. Klayton aka Celldweller did the music, some vocals, etc and Criss Angel did the main vocals mostly. They did one album as Angeldust, broke up and then Klayton began Celldweller and Criss, well, still does his magic, but if you like electronic rock, I think its pretty good still to this day and here is the full album. Its out of print now and has been for years and costs quite a bit. I had lost my signed copy of it when I got divorced….ugh
list=PLaFilfTrGGti836MQrS02uPirR49_nUwy
No…doesnt sound shitty at all what you said, I AGREE! So many crap groups, fly by nights out there within the CCM world, that are no longer around and were never that great to begin with. I always sought out the odd ones, ones that not many people listened to and stuff based upon cover art, etc.

Ive always loved this track. Love how melodic it is and still heavy
Now with this group who have some success in mainstream – Zao. Never liked the new lead they got after this album, their first and best, but I guess now the lead vocalist on this track below and album, is now a youth pastor
Sadly, this group below – Becoming The Archetype, had to close down their merch store because no one was buying their stuff and I think they have broken up, but man…..Their first album – Terminate Damnation – wow and especially this track below – Into Oblivion….chaotic and when the breakdown hits with the acoustic guitar – wow….I still get chills

Heck, if you have heard of Demon Hunter, then you may like Ryan’s first group he was in – Training For Utopia. They actually released a few albums, broke up and then he started Demon Hunter, but here is a track by TFU that I can actually handle and its quick
I think I gave you a bit to listen to and some you may dig and some you may not, but for those you do dig, check out their discography and hit them up over on Twitter. Unlike most bands these days, even though some are long gone, they still love to interact with the fans etc
So, now I leave you with my favorite hard rock track by Bride…..just love Dale’s range on the album…actually, not favorite track, but their best fucking album they ever put out and keep in mind, this was in 1992 and the odd thing with Bride, is that for their lyrics, though it may not sound like it, there are Bible references after each line in the lyric sheet – crazy
