This line right here was, in hindsight, the only reason I ever defended this useless shlub of an artist.

To set the record straight, Whiteboy is a bad song whose well worded lyrics are completely ruined by the fact that throughout the entire song he acts like racism against white people is the most important issue in the fucking world. 

For some fucking reason I chose to delusionally ignore the obvious tonal problem the song had and defended it a while back.

I was wrong, that was stupid of me.

I think I just WANTED the song not to be a "white people are oppressed" anthem and so I just pretended it wasn't.

And if you delusionally pretend that isn't, the song is fine.

I don't take back anything I said before, I've just decided the tone of the song is too fucking overbearing for the trivial nature of them. 

And that overbearing tone, for me, has a serious effect on the enjoyability of the song and makes him look like every other retard crying about discrimination they've most likely never even fucking experienced in person. 

 

A part of me thinks he had the lyrics be mostly fine and then did most of the crying in the delivery as a way to have it either way if ever he regretted it. But I have no idea if he's smart enough to know to do that. 

 

There's nothing actually wrong with writing a song about the fact that racism against white people is bad, the problem is acting like that's some super important message when there are a trillion bigger problems in the fucking world than some retards on twitter and tumblr crying about bullshit. 

It's good to tell those people off or explain why they're wrong or try to change their mind, I have no problem with that, because if we don't, they might actually some day grow to the power that Tom's fans believe they currently have. 

But as of now, they're nothing more than a nuisance. It's no wonder these fucking people, tom included, can't shut the fuck up about "Cancel Culture" because, even though it doesn't even remotely work in the way they act like it does, it's the only way that they can pretend these people have any fucking power over anyone. 

This lack of a problem perfectly exemplified by something I actually did bring up in my little deep dive from before, that Tom's biggest problem in Whiteboy is seemingly that somebody made fun of the braids in his hair.

Oh poor sweet baby, you got fuckin triggered so hard you changed your entire music career to cry about 'teh SJWs' because somebody "blindly attacked the braids on your head" 

Holy shit, that is laughable. 

Or rather, it would be laughable if I believed it for a second.

Well, I kind of do, I believe he did in fact get triggered by someone making fun of his braids. I buy that (which is still pretty funny).

But I don't believe that it influenced him to make it into his entire career.

Nah, something else did that.

Namely the 20 million views on youtube that fucking video got, and the sea of money that ensued.

 

When I did my post on the guy, which was mostly caused by the Mac Lethal beef, I was positive on the song.

And the lyric I put at the beginning of this post is probably why. as well as a few other lines that seemed pretty Empathetic, which is something that I really applaud, having empathy in such discussions is something severely missing online, and so I was pretty happy to hear it. 

I don't necessarily take back anything I said, other than that it was a good song and that I implied that he wasn't acting like he was oppressed. 

 

But that line about the "Rockafellers, Rothschilds, Bushes, and royals" being the REAL problem in society was a big reason why I wanted to defend that song so badly.

First off, it's just true in the context of the song.

A lot of folks who say they hate white people do so because they just associate white people with actual problems. 

Whether you agree with their takes on those problems, it is at least notable that's where the prejudice seems to stem from, or at least its how they justify it to themselves.

In that line Tom says "Hey, why are you involving random fuckers like me in this, we both agree these are problems, lets do something about it, keep focused, hate the problem not the skin color of the people who caused the problem, you're wasting your time." 

That's a good message, that's something I can get behind.

And is also something I can actually picture changing someone's mind. 

 

But more importantly for the purposes of this post, in that line Tom said something, he acknowledged something. 

The existence of serious Corruption in society.

In fact this line was a direct attack on capitalism. 

A topic he has unsurprisingly has not continued to attack as his career has progressed. 

Literally why else would anyone attack the fucking rockafellers.

Capitalism is literally the only thing they are associated with, with many using John D. Rockefeller as sort of an apotheosis of the problems with capitalism.  

Not to mention the Rothchilds are mostly known for owning banks. 

Banks are often used as a symbol of everything wrong with capitalism, there's literally no other way to interpret that line.

 

At the least, he thinks people like that have made capitalism bad, at the most he thinks capitalism is bad. 

My opinion on any of that is irrelevant, what matters here is that we're years into his career and this theme has yet to resurface. 

If I made some anti-racism against white people song and it made me famous, my FIRST directive would be to talk about the actual corruption in society I already acknowledged existed in that very song. 

 

He also mentions how the government spread drugs in black communities, leading them to "spoil". 

Which is considered by many to be a prime example of systemic racism

In that the current hellscape of poverty and gang violence black communities are in was not some natural product of history leading up to it, but rather an intentional sabotage by those in power done to keep themselves in power.

Unsurprisingly also not what his subsequent songs are about. 

 

And so ends this post, because if you're not stupid, you already know where I'm going with this.

 

Fans of his: for the love of god, YOU'RE BEING PLAYED

At most he doesn't give two shits about what you believe and is just repeating your beliefs back to you for a quick buck.

At the least he is deliberately cherry picking and probably exaggerating which of his beliefs to share as to not disturb the echo chamber he assumes you live in.

Which SHOULD bother you.

He's not a truth speaker, he's a marketing mogul. He knows what you want and is just feeding it to you.

 

Even if you disagree with me about Whiteboy or think I was right the first time, keep listening to that if you want, but just realize his current songs are the product of cynical money grubbing bullshit.

 

Oh, also, if anyone thinks I'm "triggered" by him. No, I'm not.

He offends me in the same way AJR offends me.

By making bad music.

And if I was ranking artists in terms of who offends me on those grounds, he'd be around number 456 or so, right next to a bunch of irrelevant pop artists nobody including me thinks about anymore.

Now I'm going to post this and never think about him again.

 

TLDR: I originally defended whiteboy and I regret it. But more importantly, even if it was good, the current state of his career in context of its lyrics make him look like a grifter not worthy of the attention of anybody.
