me not very like.
not that its bad, but its that overly-rockdafied sound that bugs me.
and yeah, to my ear, twiztid is focusin way more on droppin dope flows, than they are droppin dope songs. overall.
It sounds like they’re trying to sell themselves for features. Like you said, it’s like they’re trying to get on Strange Music. But hey, all I’m going on is 2 EPs. Boogieman was the shit, and I’m about to listen to that other track on rolling stone, so I’ll see how that sounds.
I believe in Twiztid to make shit fresh. Gang Rags Reborn was fucking phenomenal, if that’s any indication.
I have to agree with @scruffy on this. I just heard “back to hell” or whatever. I could BARELY even tell this was Twiztid. I have nothing against putting rock in with rap, and twiztid has done that before, but this? whoa. For a second there, I thought I was hearing Korn. I’m not digging it. It just doesn’t seem like Twiztid. Maybe it’ll grow on me, but idk…

@old-mr-dangerous Did you like Gang Rags Reborn?
See, my favorite thing is when each artist sounds distinct. I noticed on Psy, the artists’ first 1-3 albums are always pretty formulaic Psychopathic releases. But then the artist becomes their own. That never happened with Blaze. With Reborn, I feel like he actually sounds like… a distinct artist/character.
^^ Agree. Gang Rags wasn’t all that was Reborn, Blaze was as well. Blaze sounded just the way he should on that.

Okay so after a few more listens I say: Back to Hell > Boogieman. Fuck it, you know, I’m just gonna preorder The Darkness. Obviously, it’s gonna be awesome, really different from the Twiztid i’m used to, but it’s still probably going to kick ass. Who else wants to get the blindfold and listen to it in the dark the whole way through?

Love this track as I’m a big fan of the incorporation of rock into Twiztid’s tracks. I’ve said it numerous times that Mutant is one of my favorite albums.
@luckynumbrxiii I get where you’re coming from when you say this isn’t the type of track that got you in to Twiztid, I’m pretty much the same way. I started bumping them when Green Book dropped and while there were a few rock infused tracks on that record, they never really utilized that style that much before hand.
And ya, I’m getting the vinyl as well. Just got a shiny new record player.
@scruffy Do yourself a huge favor and check out Reborn. I haven’t been so geeked about a Blaze record since Colton Grundy. I’m so geeked I just fucking used the word geeked!

Freek show had plenty of rock sounding tracks. Boogieman I thought was a great wicked track. Back to hell isnt bad but kinda lacking something… agree with @luckynumbrxiii Definitely not a good song to help promote the album through Rolling stone..Boggieman is a way better track and has got me hyped for this record..I just hope that isnt the best song on the darkness..New shit definitely has a mutant/wicked vibe.

Completely true. There were rock sounding tracks on Mostasteless as well. IDK, it’s hard for me to explain. I look at the rock sounding tracks differently on those albums than on Mutant, H&H, Abominationz, Etc. Maybe it’s because back then us ninjas weren’t like, “Aww, Twiztid used too much rock on this record or that record…” We had nothing to compare to years back.
I will agree with the masses that “Back to Hell” isn’t the best promotional track.

I look at them differently also and I think its because like on freek show the rock was mixed very well with the wicked and mutant etc got a little poppy sounding and not so much the wicked shit.know what im sayin.

You can’t rate a whole album based on 2 tracks, at least I can’t. Boogieman threw me off with it’s jumbled sounding chorus, Back to hell is wicked, it just hardly even sounds like Jamie or Paul in the song. I really want to enjoy this upcoming album from Twiztid.
