The polices that are good for farmers will effect way more people than just the farmers. And it's not good for everybody else. Perhaps a lot of issues should be state controlled (Especially gun control) rather than controlled by the mass government. Plus, being somebody from that area you are completely out of touch with what's going on with everybody else.

So no, I don't think a specific population of people whom's jobs you respect more than the rest deserve more say.  

How are you going to eat? You OWE farmers. You have never worked on a farm or ranch have you? Shit is the hardest work I have ever done and it is NOT worth the money. They actually need more policies and incentives because right now any farmer with less then 100k acres is pretty much forced lower middle class or poverty unless they sell the land. You get paid $10 per acre for not using it to farm. You can't use the land EVERY year because of the ground quality deteriorates after a crop and you have to let it sit so SOME farmers only make money bi-yearly if they run crops instead of cattle. I can sit here and mention hundreds of variables that make farming/ranching a pretty shitty way of life, but there will always be ungrateful people (like yourself) that think there is some random wizard somewhere conjuring everything you eat without consequence.

I would also argue any policies that hurt farmers hurts everyone PERIOD. Unless you eat ants or something out of your yard.

As far as state ran issues. Already like that. Texas gives the feds the middle finger daily.

As long as it is those that underappreciate farmers to starve first. Which it will be because when overpopulation happens the food makers are gonna feed their "rural" families first.

Or you could learn how to successfully grow your own food. My buddy next door never buys veggies anymore because he grows his own.  He has a very small yard too so it works.  Just make sure you also have a compost pile so you have nutrients to put back in your ground.
