Every single time you read something about outrage on something ridiculous it often ends up being two or three people saying something and somebody writing an article as if it’s a whole movement of people then everybody just assumes it’s true when really the outrage doesn’t actually exist (or at least on a noteworthy scale).

The best example of this (and I think I’m stealing this from a Whang video on the subject) is that radio show about the alien invasion from the perspective of a news broadcast. The local paper wrote a story presenting it as if there was mass hysteria from people thinking it was a real news broadcast when it was really just a handful of people. Schools teach it as the paper wrote it.

Proves two things. How easy it is to manipulate people into believing lies with the media and how news organizations generate controversy to make money and all they care about is making money.

Oh, and not funny but true.
