Fun fact, Dems actually tried to push several bills before the election to tighten security on electronic voting booths (like keeping them offline so they couldn’t be hacked) but the Reps shot it down. Strange coming from people allegedly worried about voter fraud, right?  

It’s always like that, man. Blatant hypocrisy with seemingly no self awareness of it over and over. I never really associated much with either political party and considered myself pretty well “in the middle” for a long time. But seeing how the right has enabled a person like Trump and how, in turn, Trump has enabled them to act so bold on their racism, anti-science, conspiracy spreading, etc. has really pushed me over to the left because I just can’t get behind the narrative these guys are pushing. 

Like, we have been told by government officials and news outlets for MONTHS that this election would be different and we would quite likely not know the results on election night like we normally would. That expectation had been communicated over and over again and was even part of one of the debates, and yet Trump still latches onto the fact that we didn’t know on election night as though that was some kind of issue. He and his supporters apparently have no mind for nuance, circumstance, etc. Meanwhile, Trump complains about this being a “rigged election” since at least March based on absolutely fuckin nothing just as a way to plant a seed of doubt and rile up his base so he has an excuse for why he lost, at least in their minds. He has no subtlety about any of this and yet, millions of people somehow ate it up. I can’t wrap my head around it. And lets not forget that all the votes have NEVER been all finished being counted on any election night. Ever. And lets not forget the right pushed for changes with the USPS to slow them down, have less sorting machines than ever, and all that bullshit. 

But truth be told, I actually feel bad for Trump supporters at this point that are still adamant there was fraud and they truly believe Trump “won by a landslide”. Trump himself even tweeted and patted himself on the back that this was the most secure election ever but somehow also was like “except for what the Democrats did!”. It’s sad. They are all pulled down by Trump’s inability to cope with this loss because all of his life he’s been able to have himself or his dad buy or lie his way out of trouble and move on. One day, I think these people will look back and realize they were in a cult and wonder what the fuck happened to them.

And I agree that Trump’s influence will diminish but I honestly think it’s going to take a long time to “recover” from it. It seems like he brought all the crazies out of the woodwork that would rather believe the most far-fetched crazy shit (such as COVID and the election both being “hoaxes”) rather than fact and common sense. Like I said a few days ago, it’s sad to see the influence he has over people and they will believe everything he’s pushing and not realizing he’s simply just failing at losing and has no problem putting the country into further divide because of his own fragile ego.
