Ltb you are arguing with a possibly drunken madman lol. This thread is fun though.

My amateur opinion.
I agree with Lt. B that I don’t believe an actual world war will happen for a bit for the same exact reason he mentioned.
Then again, that could just be hope blinding me too.
I disagree with Lt. B with whether or not we can take them. I don’t have quite as much faith in our military as he does. But he comes from a military/cop family and that often times clouds his judgement.

And ultimately these are nothing more than predictions. So nobody is really wrong.
True in a sense, but we only have two sides to the game. If you haven’t yet figured out the two sides, it’s tougher to imagine, but the facts are there,,, and there are two sides facing off right now…who both have multiple nations behind them…

nuclear war is categorically not modern warfare. that is generation-and-a-half-ago warfare. vintage 1970s.
modern warfare [from our point of view, anyway] is semi-mechanized counterinsurgency, with air support.
if it came down to proper armies in direct combat, then most likely it would be combined-arms maneuver warfare.
nukes? no.
the thinking warrior is not bringin nuclear weapons into it. waaay old-world.
bottom line on the nuclear option, is that the us has [assumed-to-be] effective SLBMs, and nobody else does.
at worst, everybody dies.
at best, we get gutshot, but painfully recover; the enemy is beheaded, and defeated in detail at our leisure.

I stay informed as I possibly can. I just don’t buy into the hyper-paranoid antigovernment rhetoric. I don’t know shit about strategizing, but my point is US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Australia, etc. can and will shit all over any A-team the east can throw together. All Russia has is ferocity and all China and North Korea have are bodies. If this shit were to go hot though, everyone on all sides is shooting themselves in the dick financially though. That’s why I just think it’s gonna be nothing but proxy wars and wars between “unimportant” nations. As for nukes, come on dude. Mutually. Assured. Destruction. Know what that means? No one is ever gonna use the fucking things. They’re pointless. Big, shiny, radioactive cock pieces. If money and real estate are supposedly all politicians care about, why would they annhilate all life on earth for centuries to come? They wouldn’t. Unless they genuinely are bat shit fucking insane, in which case who gives a shit? We’re all dead anyway.
Cosign. I’m not worried. Even if war happens tomorrow, then it is what it is.

TBH, I really don’t keep up with world events. IF a WW3 happens, so be it. I don’t worry about shit I cant control. That’s not saying I don’t care, but if it does happen then god bless @ltb for stepping right into that mess.
im also not tooooo big on Nostradamus’s quatrains, but some I find interesting.

I guess I should of said futuristic warfare (months or years from now). That definitely won’t be the definition you said. That to me sounds like the attacks on weaker nations for resources or to overthrow a government. Kind of like what is going on with the proxy battles in the middle east or fighting in Ukraine. For right now they’re doing the old sanctions routine with each other – with a newly added computer hacking attacks that most don’t realize the danger to.
It appears nuclear war won’t be what it would have been in the cold war, but more of a – who can shoot the satellites down first and then move infantry into the lights out county to take over. Look at the the secret space launches in the past few months from Russia, China, and the States. They’re in a hurry for sure. I have to say the private non-Nasa launch recently from the States of the dragon was very impressive. Never seen anything like that one.
There’s still the risk of nukes being fired from the likes of Israel to damn near anyone around them, if they go even crazier. And Pakistan and India are almost a guarantee to fire off there’s at each other if shit goes down. North Korea is another one we can’t predict.
It’s a scary time right now in the world.

they dont have a platform to put em in. or rather, they do, but we got em well outclassed.
you can bet that every russian ssbn [every ssbn worldwide, actually] has an american attack sub sitting on it, just out of detection range.
its nice to know that your warheads will detonate, that is important. but it helps you very little if the birds never leave the ocean.
also, last i looked, the bulk of russias nuclear force was still largely either fixed silos, or mobile launchers tied to the railways. both are much simpler to counterforce.
awfully paranoid, arent you?
