Context is key, same with the use of words like nigga. It can be a term of endearment among fellow people, or a term of derogatory meaning involving race, class, or morality.

In sociology people who are within a group can redefine its meaning. White people calling people they didn’t like “nigger” didn’t change the meaning of the word nigger.
