also both of these albums are still great...I've warmed up to Hot Head a bit though I still think it drags on a bit too long and would have preferred they put Hawking or one of the other stronger cuts from Flip instead...mainly Shaggy's part lol like hearing the 1-17 countdown the first time isn't bad but having to sit through it again just sort of throws the vibe of the song off for me...Nobody's Fault also grew on me though again I would have preferred something from Flip (Splish Splash for example lol)
as for Flip I don't care for the first song (maybe if the vocals were turned up but it just doesn't SOUND good to my ears)...Fite Back could have louder vocals too and I didn't care for J's verse really (Shaggy killed it though...wish DJ Paul had a verse)...otherwise I enjoyed Flip...I like Friend Request apparently more than everyone else lol it's not one of my favorites but I didn't think it was terrible aside from the sort of children's sing-a-long chorus...Shaggy's verse was pretty fresh actually...Hoodoo killed it on Hungry as did Ouija on I'm The Type
they brought the right kind of energy for this album...I feel like this is what they were aiming for on Lost but it just wasn't right and I'm glad they were able to capture that old style again with this...would have liked to hear some MEC on there but understandable why there wasn't I guess...also wish there was more Shaggy but it's not a deal breaker for me because J's actually been pretty quiet for the last few years aside from the random track/video here and there...I was looking forward to hearing more of him on here and glad it delivered on that...overall really happy with both these albums...all the producers did their thing as well!

It's been a really hot minute since I've posted here, but I just had to come and say how much I loved this album. Considering how mediocre Found was, and how absolutely terrible Lost was, I was concerned that this one would just go further down that slope. But it didn't. AT ALL. I really liked every song, and it's just so much higher quality than so much of what they've done recently. I like their lighter, happier stuff, so my favorite is Freedom. But I really appreciate that they can write some harder, more disturbing stuff like we see in Shimmer and I Like It Rough. This really is a good album from start to finish for me. Gonna check out Flip the Rat soon.

Also, I still haven't gotten mine. I didnt pre order any bundles or anything, just the CD. Should I also be expecting any Flip the Rat codes or anything? I just want the music CD.

Didn't open mine, but from what I've gathered, you will get a code and yes you will have to pay 9.99, I think, for flip plus 7 bucks shipping.

Hot Head is easily one of my favorite tracks, has been since my first listen through. Your criticisms are fair of course, but, that song really works for me.

I mostly like the song just feel like doing that 17 countdown more than once kinda made the song drag for me...beat is fire and while I dig the Feels So Right kinda flow J used for it ("drunk on Coronas!" cracks me up every time)...it grew on me quite a bit but first few times listening to the album that song had me checking to see how much time was left lol

I hear ya, I would agree that the 2nd occurrence of the 17 count probably wasn't necessary.

Sales projections are in. It's estimated to do 10,533 copies (I bought it 3 times two cds and on vinyl and I've been streaming tf out of it every night at work since it dropped) estimated to chart at 11

Comin' back around...
I really like this album! Not commenting on the thematic content in any way... THIS IS a good ICP album. Gawd damn!
For whatever the fuck we all thought Otis was injecting into Missing Link.... and whatever the price of ICPs tour slash release schedule had to do with,.... IMO... This album is the muthafuckin' RECEIPT!
I haven't even been allowed to hear "Flip" yet (cuz shipping and handling), but...
Strictly speaking, this is a FUN fucking record. SO many pointer fingers!
It FEELS like a whole work when you listen to it at once. The transitions between tracks are like weed smoke floating into the next...
...that is... until...
"Shimmer"
Without commenting in ANY WAY about the "content" of the track, even after "Hot Head", it is like the programming took a fuckin' swan dive off a cliff!!!
If you 'delete' "Shimmer" from your album playlist, AT LEAST... "Hot Head" and "Freedom" sit quite well with each other.
Sub:
"Freedom" is a fuckin' motivational BANGER! (shot-out to anyone that hears the Radiohead/Westworld hook, heh... bitches.)
Which makes it THAT MUCH WEIRDER that it comes after the psuedo-Xtian drop that came before it.... [shrug]
Is it worth noting that in the past ICP [omitted] the 17 from their albums and yet now "they went so far as"?
(that track is also [insert emojis of fire and dead bodies])

It'd be dope if someone did a ICP/Dilla mash up tape some time...whenever they use more boom bap/chill production like Satellite, I'm Not Happy, etc. it always makes me wish they had gotten the chance to work with him before he passed (seeing as how Dilla's from Detroit as well)...I remember someone did a ICP/Michael Jackson mash up last year that was actually pretty fresh and think a Dilla one would work pretty well too if done correctly...not sure if anyone on here fucks around with stuff like that but if one ever surfaces please link me to it

I actaully can't fathom thinking Shimmer should be deleted. I think that song is fuckin dope, I love that J can still pull off a song like that and still make it sound fresh.
What do you mean by that last sentence about ICP "omitting the 17 from their albums"? I don't get what that means.

So I'm checking the billboard charts and I don't see them on there.
I think that site is listing pure album sales only, and not factoring in streaming like billboard does.
https://www.billboard.com/charts/billboard-200
I can't imagine ICP NOT charting though.

I'm drinking beer listening to Behind the paint audio book... again,
anyway, It's on that dog beats era part where they're driving to their first show at the college, driving in the winter storm, they're listening to Detroit rappers named "Triplex" , they even played a sample of them. pretty fucking fresh

I'm listening to Fearless Fred Fury now and thought how fresh it would be to see ICP at the gathering performing Seriously Hilarious. I could c the whole GOTJ crowd jumpin', singing along to this, moshin'. that'd be some crazy shit. I love this song. shit even seeing it live in a packed little venue would be dope as hell too

I think you'll get your wish since it was one of the new songs they did at the cd release party and juggalo weekend...idk if the whole crowd was singing along yet since it's newer but by the time the Gathering rolls around I'm sure it'll be an anthem for sure

@chevy2Dope
In regard to "Shimmer", my note had nothing to do with whether or not I liked the song but about it's presence.
Maybe to put it another way...
...in the "movie" that would be this album, (to me) "Shimmer" is a hard emotional jump-cut; after which, we get met with the next scene of "Freedom".
If the attempt was to create an emotional valley to which "Freedom" would soar over, I think "Shimmer" is the bottom of the Grand Canyon compared to "Freedom"s peak of Mt. Everest... Kind of a steep descent. Triple Black Diamond.
If this album were a party, "Shimmer" is like the DJ suddenly demanding everyone take an almost 6min "moment of silence' for the dead lady in that kid's closet.
THEN "Freedom"! THEN "I Like It Rough" (an amazing finisher).
Personally, (as I had put myself "on a good one" in order to listen to the whole album straight through (w/no pee breaks)... The one thing that hit me like a fuckin' speed bump on my "vibe" was "Shimmer"...
IT. IS. A. GOOD. TRACK. (#!!!!)
I'm just sayin'... derp.
In regards to your other question to me...
It was my understanding/observation that anytime there were ICP/Psychopathic listings, that the #17 would usually be skipped over... like buildings with no 13th Floor. For example, "Behind The Paint" had no Chapter 17.
This album not only HAS a Track 17. It is the last track. And it is "I Like It Rough"!
Just an observation. A small one, at that.

Uhhh, ok then!
In regards to 17, I never really noticed they skipped in Ch. 17 in Behind The Paint. But otherwise, there's 17 tracks on Amazing Jeckel Brothers, Shangri La, Hell's Pit, and maybe some more. I don't think they've ever purposely "avoided" the number, particularly since they go out of their way to make reference to it time and time again.
