it's like when a new a movie is released on thepiratebay and it was recorded on a cell phone in Russia
the game is to make money and if you release something and some dipshit records the whole thing and releases it on youtube an hour after you released it yourself it sucks.
makes people not want to pay for what you are doing because why should they if they can get it for free an hour later?

I'd say it's worse than that.
Hollywood studios make fucking bank. If it's getting a global release, everything is insured, everyone on the cast and crew has already been paid, it's just a massive, billion dollar studio thats taking a blow from losing a few ticket sells.
ICP? these guys aren't that rich. They're richer than any of us, yes. but only because of doing shit like this. they're musicians, and music is already a super fucking unstable career no matter how famous you are. With covid this year they've already lost one of their biggest revenue stream; touring. Anyone think this ISN'T a way to help recover from that is a fucking moron. So I'm assuming everyone posting in this thread either paid the 70 bucks or didn't watch the videos on YouTube right? Right?
Of course its within their rights to have this shit striked from YouTube. Doesn't change the fact they are charging 70 bucks for some glorified podcasts. You are either down hardcore and paid the 70 or you care enough to casually watch but if you can't its not a big deal. I don't think this particular case is the same as pirating an album or a movie and I don't think it affected who was willing to pay for the shit.
I watched about 20 minutes of the shoot interview. I could definitely take it or leave it. Ill buy the album but nothing was going to make me pay 70 bucks for that.
Again y'all ain't wrong, it is their property and they have every right to take the stuff down whether its being "motenized" or not.

But I agree with what ICP is doing even if I am totally guilty of watching some of the October stuff free on Youtube. Straight up, people in the music industry have been fucked all year. So I am all for bands finding ways to make money streaming and am happy to support when I can. You gotta remember that it's not only for the bands/artists, it's also for their crew that totally rely on them touring to make their living and this has been completely taken away.
