You know when there’s a song thats really good, and you listen to it a lot, but has that one thing, that one fucking thing that drives you insane every time you hear it. its not bad enough to ruin the song, but bad enough to bother you like crazy. It could be a verse, or even a hook, but like, the one that just fucking stings you.
I have tons, but for me recently its been the hook of pass the axe, pass the axe is such a great song imo one of the best from dark lotus, but that hook, its just, I hate it, the way they draw out every word in that unnatural sounding voice sucks out all of the high energy the song has. That hook has no energy, and even the lyric “and I’ll pass it back” that shit is wack, I would have gone with a description of the axe or something about how they’re gonna kill people, that hook lacks all energy and violence.
Another one that comes to mind that I haven’t listened to in a while is raped at 15 by blahzay, its not a great song, but that stupid ass “i’m growing up I’m throwing up” yet again with those drawn out words that just don’t work with some deliveries (not that it can’t work, lyte does it well, twiztid does it well, icp usually do it well), it just sounds terrible. The rest of the song is fine, but like, ugh.
There’s others, but I’m forgetting. I’ll post more, not because I expect anyone to care, but because I need to vent about it.
Oh yeah, and while I’m here, derailing from rap, that fucking song in moana where they rhyme island with island, that makes me want to stab an albino donkey to death.
Anyways, if anyone needs to vent one of these put it here.

I pointed out my Psychopathic ones in a similar thread, but here’s a few non-psychopathic ones that come to mind:
“Die” Killa C ft. Tech N9ne. We all know Killa C is not the best lyricist, but he feels the need to include this gem in the the last verse:
“I’m fucked straight stuck on the worst of luck
Lookin down the barrel, bitch, buck buck buck”
Scum, in the track “Neva Caught” decides to spit:
“I’m a feed yo flesh to yo little girl, that will make her hurl”
It destroys the whole verse for me. Sick and disgusting, yea. He’s a horrorcore artist so you’ll have that. But really, what the hell even is that rhyme? That’s kindergarten level to me.
“Born Inside A Casket” Dark Half ft. Team Death (that’s Razakel and Sicktanick”
First 2 verses by Damien and Geno are great. Hook is great. You think the song’s over, but wait, we gotta let Raz spit her verse. She says the following:
“Pause, take a minute to reflect on this dialect, as I cut and dissect
You should know what to expect from the bitch of the southwest
Don’t got a dick, but if I did it would be erect
From all these bodies that I love to collect
I just love the taste and the stench of it
Better come correct if you’re aiming for me
Razakel & Dark Half, SKR, and LSP
For eternity, don’t act like you ain’t heard of me
My hobby is murdering, step closer, I’ll make you believe
Ain’t nothin better when I cut you deep
Rub salt in the wounds, laugh as you’re suffering
I’ll even haunt you in your sleep, Freddie
I’ll come back like a sequel cause I’m just that deadly
I creep up from behind, your heart’s racin’
I got my machete, I’m ready, Jason”
As Dr. Evil once said “How about NOOOOO”

In general, people need to leave the big horror icons alone. Freddy, Michael, Jason, Leatherface… they’ve been used way too much to try to sound scary on a track. Chucky even has his Bushwick Bill song.
Maybe go for more obscure monsters. Even Pinhead and the Cenobites, Candyman, and such are a step in the right direction. But more obscure, far more.
I was delighted when Blaze shouted out Randall Flagg of The Stand. I wonder if he wrote that rhyme or did Madrox.
But yeah, no more horror icons. It’s lazy.

Yea, mix it up a little bit. Idk, like

Violent J’s verse on Maniac Killa. That song was one of the earliest songs I would just listen to multiple times throughout the day when I first got into Psychopathic heavy. It’s still one of my favorites. The thing is, I downloaded it from one of those P2P file sharing programs that were around back in the day. J’s verse was cut out though (as was the intro with Vampiro). It was just credited as Twiztid feat. Blaze & Shaggy.. I loved the song front to back. Then I got the album, like a year later, and found out J was on there, which I never knew! So I was like “why the fuck would they cut out J’s verse?”.. Needless to say, I quickly understood.
It just ruins the flow. It’s such an aggressive hard hitting song but then J comes in and does this weird singing intermission. It’s like commercials in a movie. You get annoyed when they come on and then you just wait until it’s finally over so you can get back to the awesome movie you are watching. I still keep a version of the song with J’s vocals cut out.

Yeah I can see why some people think J’s part is wack. To me I look at it like a bridge (or breakdown) in a rock song where there’s a change in the song. I think J was just trying to play a part of a different type of “maniac” than the rest of the guys are in the song. It’s definitely a “what the fuck?” moment but I think it works for what the song is. That’s just me though, again, totally get why others don’t like that part.

I see your point. I agree that it makes sense conceptually actually. I think listening to a version without his part for so long also influenced my judgment, because everybody else went in so hard. Otherwise I might I do think that it’s entirely too long though. it’s twice the lengths of everybody elses verses. I think I might be able to handle it, if it were only the regular 20-30 seconds long.

Granted he has alotta bad parts on that album but that one
Speaking of that album, the cover is kinda ruined for me as well. I never noticed how distorted the hand was on there. that fat pinky and the extremely skinny index finger. seriously just noticed it last year or so. weird creative decision. Part of me kinda likes it because it looks weird and a little morbid, but I can’t take it serious really, because it also looks pretty stupid and it makes the fingers truly look like wiener sausages.
I suppose it’s the water that’s distorting it but that doesn’t make it any less wiener-sausagey-looking

makes me wonder if the track came off one of my mix cds. when bizbiz and freekshow were new, while i was pickin out the various tracks i was gonna be bumpin for the rest of time, one of the first things i did was clip j outta maniac killa. big improvement.
thats my standard policy for any song thats dope notwithstanding a wack verse. just chop it out. [this goes for the lions share of skits and other bumper material, too]
hell, verse doesnt even have to be wack; evil sounds better without abk, the dirtball sounds better without twiztid. et cetera.

4 Those of U by Twiztid. That fucking hook. I’m convinced it’s the worst hook in the history of rap. My God what an ear sore.
agreed. maybe not worst of all time, but not good. and between that and cant… they seemed to think that those two songs were the big jams on the ep. performed em both so often i felt like they were pushin em as hit singles.
well, they were wrong. neither song is a jam. fillers on the album, smoke breaks live.
Also I know I’m not alone on this one but that “bam bam bam, bam bam bam bam” J does on They Shootin’. Just annoying.
okay, this i disagree with. now.
but before i saw the song live, i fully agreed.
awfully paranoid, arent you?

possibly! must have been around 2007/2008.
Sometimes I even cut out everything except for that one verse. Usually when it’s an artist I like whose featured on someones track who I can’t stand. For example, this totally unknown german rapper did a collabo album with the one and only Ganxsta NIP. the dude’s horrible though. but I actually like NIP over his beats, mostly. So I cut out all of NIP’s verses and just kept those.
For example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLV101dBlA8
Somehow this is even produced by E-Moe from Siccmade.
Another example is Shaggy’s verse on Kickin’ Kickin’. I can’t stand the song. Hate the hook, hate the beat, hate J’s parts. But man, Shaggy’s verse is one of his best when it comes to flow. And it made me like the beat too! But only for as long as he’s rapping, once the hook kicks in, I start disliking it again.

Scruffy I agree about Cnt. Another bad song/hook. Also i remember thinking how much better Dirty Lil Girl would’ve been if they had laid down actual raps in the verses and not that lame singing or whatever it is.
Since i seem to be shitting on everything on Mirror Mirror i guess i better mention how awesome The World is. Still one of their top 5 songs IMO.

My biggest beef with a verse is when the krayshawn remix of when I’m clownin comes on and i don’t notice until she starts in. Because i use spotify i can’t just delete the song. And she just ruins everything. It’s not even that great a song to begin with.

yeah, thats a song thats funny the first time you hear it, and thereafter you laugh at it for the wrong reasons.

im really only just now realizing how much i have always overrated it… used to say, often, that if every twiztid album was like mirror mirror times two, id be happy.
definitely agree about the world. required reading. they should play it at every show. well, not really, but ya know.

thats what you get for not being responsible for your own music.
spotifys and pandoras… all this rah rah over the years about how radio sucks [and holy shit, does it ever], and people are still depending on what the dj wants you to hear. even if the dj is a robot.

Using spotify allows me to keep room on my phone for video work I’m doing. Until a friend offered me access to their premium, i kept all my music in my phone and honestly I prefer spotify. I can (and usually do) listen to my own playlists or full albums but I’ll occasionally make a radio station out of a song and let it give me random stuff.
With random stuff, i get to hear stuff i can’t hear if i don’t seek it out. New stuff and weird stuff.
