I'm sitting here and am enjoying some sad music (guess you know such a situation - you're kind of depressed and find joy in listening to music that reflects your mood.. okay well, main reason why music is that popular I guess. But still a special reason I got into ICP back in the day). Then my mood changed from listening to what I was currently listening to (Second Life Replay by The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, if somebody's interested) to ICP and I suddenly was wondering what song would perfectly fit. And I'm not sure why, buutttt - I figured it a hard question somehow.

What are your favorite, lets say, three sad ICP tracks?

I was thinking of Prom Queen and Ninja. And Truly Alone. And then I started pondering.

(Considering Twiztid makes it easier, I think. Are Twiztid more emo than ICP? Don't get me wrong, I love the following songs, but instantly I think of more sad songs by Twiztid than by ICP - such as Darkness, Note 2 Self, Unstoppable, LDLHA, All The Rest, ... most songs by ICP seem grimly euphoric to me, kind of, what I absolutely appreciate in general. more than often. just sometimes..)

((language question: If I had written "saddest songs OF ICP - would that have been wrong?))

I would have to say "Amber Alert" is pretty sad. Still odd they consider it a hallowicked track...feels out of place.

To answer your language question its still wrong to say saddest anything because saddest isn't the right word.  I could be wrong but I think most sad song by ICP would be correct.  Im not a big grammar nazi but since you asked im telling.

Truely alone is a really sad song imo...Under the Moon comes to mind.

I didn't say it wasn't a word.  In all honesty I started out saying that then fact checked myself.  I just don't think its the right adjective to use that way.  Like I said I could be wrong you were an English major right school me if im wrong im just falling back to what I was always told as a kid.

Behind the Paint... hits close to home in some parts. "Ah ha, look at him. same pair of pants and the shirt again"

Take Me Home... "Now I'm alone and on top of it all, lookin deep in the back of my mind.. I realize the key to a happy life was right there with me the whole time, so take me home.."

Crossing Thy Bridge... the subject matter, and Shaggy screaming "FUCKIN TAKE ME INSTEAD!!" sends chils.

also, Prom Queen for the beat, J's very heartfelt hurt tone, and the sad truth of it all. Its a tragic story, really.

Under the Moon. More tragic lyrics of loneliness, hurt, and insanity.

Pass Me By. Just great all around.

Shiny Diamonds. Its bittersweet. "You might discover your niche, and look you aint a bitch, all this just days before you was gonna quit." My brother was inspired by those very words, because he had insanely low sense of self worth and was smothered by fear every day. I miss him.

Joke Ya Mind. ICP at their original stage of floobiness. You can tell through their music, especially early albums, that they lived a lot of the shit they rap about, exagerrated or not.

Hate Her to Death. I cant quite relate, but I know many who can. Your love can hurt you far more than your enemy.

Nothing's Left. Beautiful track.

Truly Alone. J does that voice switch again, speaking from some real place of pain that he can visit at will.

Manic Depressive. This is how you feel when you are spinning mentally, feeling like you have nowhere to go, where you dont want to die or live.

Suicide Hotline. It has tones of humor but spots of real despair.

The Mom Song. Cmon, you know yall feel this one.

.... but behind the paint, life's just like it always was...

....look at me.... analyze... what you see....

Wow. I guess I don't know what sad is. I don't find Truly Alone, Vera Lee, Suicide Hotline, Under the Moon, or Hate Her to Death sad at all. I like those songs. They kinda hype me up. ... Well... not Vera Lee. I tend to skip that one, but it doesn't seem sad to me, just not a fun song in my opinion.

Actually, I can't think of one ICP song that I would consider sad. I think Twiztid is an easier choice for finding sad songs. Can't think of any off the top of my head, though.

[edit] Just read @old-mr-dangerous 's post and he lists a lot. Maybe I am emotionally immature but I do not agree with any of those either. I guess you'll just have to try out some of the songs and see if anyone of them hits you in that special way. I don't have any relatable experiences that let those songs evoke any sad emotions in me.[/edit]

it is indeed harder to isolate "sad" clown tracks than Twiztid. They aren't tearjerkers, just, I feel, songs that show emotional honesty.

And fuck Vera Lee. One of the worst ICP tracks ever to me.

And yes, my homie Psyral, you are an unemotional husk of a homo sapiens. I read in another post how no.horror.movie has ever scared you either. I am similar, but I am going to use all this evidence against you for evidence that you are the aforementioned "unemotional husk" hahahahahaha

Im my opinion i think Psyral has more feelings than he lets us or himself know. The only people that exist that are really like that are people like serial murders. Sorry psyral. ive been around people that remind me of you even dated them and i dobt believe it for one second i dunno man just a FEELING i have. Lol

i had a chick i dated waaaaay back... she was overemotional to the extreme. She cried during that fucking.horrible Godzilla remake in 1998 or something... it wasnt even a sad movie. The fucking lizard was grabbing a building and howling because he was pissed off or something, and she started bawling, with my dick in her hand (she was jerking me off in front of her parent's minivan at the drive in... second worst blueballs I ever got in my life).. then one day she accused me of "never crying". What was my point? I dunno! But I got a heart, man! Just because I didnt cry during that terrible.Godzilla.shit

I agree. They're more sombre than sad.

I really like Vera Lee because it reminds me of someone that I had a similar relationship with. She still haunts my memory in weird ways and that song is very cathartic to me. Plus, I am a sucker for ghost stories.

Take It Out On Me is really emotional to me because I've been on the receiving end of domestic abuse and j really gets into that mindset, I think. I dunno if sad is the right word though. It's just heavier, emotionally.

And for the record saddest song by icp is fine, grammatically. I would have flipped it and said ICP's saddest song but that's more preference than rules.

Wind me up is a "sad" song. I'm pretty sure J's singing that from the heart.

All my life I've been told I am unemotional. Robot and Vulcan are common terms people have used to describe me. Even my wife says I am not emotional. I find most emotions interfere with logical thinking and I would rather keep a clear head than have it clouded by feelings that don't seem to enhance anything in my life.

Dated people like me? Maybe at the Gathering I should have gotten to "know" you better (in the biblical sense). Too bad you had your girl with you. :P
