I feel like I’m the only one who REALLY REALLY liked this EP. Chief said he thought the song phantom sounded old school and he liked it.
i think ABKs track is the weakest song on the album.

Definitely put me down for “REALLY REALLY” liked. This is the kind of stuff I wanted from “Lost”. It sounds different from their old stuff, which is creatively satisfying for them, but it captures the same feel, which is great for me. Everybody wins. As much as people will bitch if they repackage it and start selling it, I really think it should be in the official Dark Carnival “cannon,” if you will. I’d buy it in a heartbeat even though I have the original.
As for the skits, oddly enough I think that’s a really important part of it. It’s a fuck off the conventions of how cd’s are usually put out. It’s symbolically saying, “You’re not gonna fuckin put this in and jam through it like a Taylor Swift cd.” I’m not sure what they were going for with the skits but whatever it was, it landed with me. Even by ICP standards the skits were long and disorienting, which made for an awkward listen, which made the songs hit harder.

The mix of the vocals to the beats sounded heaps better to my ears on this than other recent releases of theirs. Usually the vocals are way too overpowering for me.

The HooDoo joint was dope. Refreshing to hear a Psy artist rap over a classic break beat and have cuts in their hook. Hasnt been much of that since Riddlebox/Milenko era.

I didn’t care for any of the other songs on it but the ICP songs are all killer. I think the title track can hold up with any of their wicked shit from any other album they’ve ever done. It’s that fucking good. I haven’t stopped playing that song. No More Jail and Benapryl are incredible too. That whole chunk of the album (the ICP section) all sound like an updated version of the wicked clowns. It sounds slightly cleaner than Ringmaster but, with the beat dropping down to one or two layers, and the various sound clips as bookends, it sounds just as chaotic and unorganized as Ringmaster. I really hope this is the direction they start taking on shit. Knowing that they can do that still makes me very happy.

I like the whole disc overall.
The ICP section all sounds great. I like Young Wicked’s “Dope”. I’m REALLY glad they dropped in Hoodoo’s “Runnin’ From My Magic” cuz it was what he opened with on the Main Stage and I was really feelin’ that track when he was doing it up there! ABK’s contribution is listenable… I mean, I’d play it at least. And I could honestly take ‘er leave DJ Paul’s thing.

I threw up my love for it on the Lost/Found thread. A homie in there posted up an edited version of The Phantom with just the ICP tracks and no “skits”, if that appeals more (and how I first heard it).
I dig the beat on ABK’s track, makes me wanna dance. Hoodoo’s track was sick, too.
But yeah, ICP killed it. Can’t agree in terms of “better than anything on Lost”, but then again as you said you feel lonely on feeling this, I often do the same with Lost (reality is, bumpin’ Lost was what encouraged me to sign up here and re-integrate myself with the Juggalo community haha).
Take the 5 tracks as are? A near perfect EP. For moi, at least.

I think it’s OK. I’m trying to get used to it and found at the same time and so far neither one is really impressing me. I think I slightly like phantom more.

See I haven’t liked anything young wicked or AMB in years. I still think God’s Hands was one of the best releases to ever come out of PSY, but other than that I don’t fuck with them. I will DL Slaughter to see what he brings to the table though.
In regards to the Phantom, after listening probably 10+ times I really only like the first three ICP tracks and the DJ Paul one at thend end. Absolutely hated the Hoodoo joint. Corny as fuck to me that he is re-hashing old ICP for the chorus. Yall on the forum really dug that?

the song that sticks out is i fucked a cop. that one got a lot of rotation on day one. [after day two, i dont remember anybody bumpin found. maybe mitchellking]
also, they did that one at the show. another reason it sticks.
seems like a decent track.
ill get around to it. thanks to the generosity of the aforementioned mr king, i now have a copy of lost. still aint broke that out yet, but ill probably spin it for the next few days at least. maybe on a second listen, ill feel better about it.
