Having watched the whole thing front to back just after getting home from work, I gotta say it came across as more of a mid-life crisis rant from Joe than an actual motivational speech for all the Juggalos out there.
J's main point seemed to be that time is a very precious thing. Shaggy was telling us the exact same shit last year when he asked for help with his brother-in-law's kidney,he talked a lot then about time being precious. I agree with all this, but it's not a very deep thought. Know'm sayin?
Big up to Joe for classifying Esham as a genius early on there though!
And J had me laughing talking about how creepy it is for his old ass to be hitting on a 19 year old hottie these days.

Is it the camera angle, or did J gain a little weight back?
Either way, I wish some of ICP's critics would take an hour out of their life and watch this.
#Truth.
Maybe not in an artsy fartsy way, but the message is there.
You look at younger people in their teens and early 20's talking about death so non nonchalantly. Their entire views change at around forty or so. Even if this is a midlife crises for Him and shaggy, at least their being honest to the fam about it. Knowing a natural death is that much closer would motivate me to want to school some young ass ninjas to do more with their lives too.

That was motivational to me as well. Prioritizing your passion/dream in accordance with time is important.
the really fucked up thing is most people die without ever bein' able to fully realize their dream. I'm glad that J and Shaggy seem to genuinely realize, and be thankful for, how lucky they are to be able to live their dream for so much of their lives.

I dig it.
In the art world there is a term for certain types of work or elements of certain works. It's "memento mori" which means literally "remember you will die".
Whenever I explain ICP to people I start with memento mori. It is what they've always been about.
I think j is worried Juggalos don't hear that so he's saying it flat out. He's not wrong.

Very well put, even though most of their music falls along the lines of, Ars Moriendi.

Same shit, more or less. Memento Mori describes work that reminds you that you will die and encourages you to live your best life. I've never read ars moriendi, but a quick Google says that it would qualify.
