Honestly I felt this part of the flh forums was appropriate to discuss all this. So let's have at it.

As we all saw during the final moments of ICP's 2nd concert at the gathering of the juggalos over the weekend. The famous "SV" logo popped back out. And well let's just say it got one heck of a reception. So it's obvious we need to all have a chat about it.

Now it's awesome and ICP and Esham are cool again, and signs looking like it's going to remain that way, which is cool. Obviously we all know cause Furious was one of the 4 masters that Esham took with him when he departed Psychopathic in 2005 that if there is a new Soopa Villainz album it's most likely gonna drop on Reel Life. But the big questions are here:

It's pretty known that Lavel left hip hop and found religion [or that's what social media is telling us] so would he be open to returning?

and if not, who would be a proper candidate to replace Lavel in the SV.

Honestly I think Esham's bandmate in NaTaS Mastamind would be a perfect fit. I mean he doesn't even need a made up alias as he's been called "Mr. Hellraiser" for over 20 years. So it'd be fitting. And just think about it. Members of the ICP and members of NaTaS in one giant supergroup... It'd be Detroit Hip Hop's golden age coming full circle.

But that's my thoughts. What are yours?

I assumed Lavel was involved. Wouldn't be a reunion if he wasn't. I also think they would have said something about any replacement by now.

I actually liked their album Furious when it came out. I know a pot of people didn't, but it had some bangers up on there. Esham left not long after and started all that Juggalo Holocaust nonsense but I guess no hard feelings now though. Esham is well past his prime, and in all honesty he's a disgrace to his former self. Few have stuck around to humiliate themselves in the rap game like Esham has. This album is 10 years too late, E got nothin' left to offer.

I also enjoy the SV album. If it had more variation on the styles it would've been an absolute classic.

Didnt Esham start releasing music at age 13? He was past his prime, technically, at like 25 then lol. But I still dig some of what he has released. I enjoy about as much of his newer stuff as much as I dig Twiztid's newer stuff: about 1/5 of it.

That's enough to keep my interest and excitement though.

I loved his early shit, and all the way through Tongues he made a lot of good shit. Which is surprising, seeing as how (in my opinion) dude wasn't exactly ever a lyrical genius. Just had a great intensity. Shit is long gone now though. Last thing I heard by him was some Natas disaster called "fukyobodnboy" or something close.to it. Shit was horrid. TNT even drove willingly into the back of a truck at a high speed when he fully realized what the end product sounded like. Shit was that bad. Now he's back on Psychopathic? Oh goody.

I know some people are excited.for.this, I'm just not one of them.

aint heard much at all of eshams music since martyr city.  whenever i have checked it, it generally aint been strong enough to get me to spend money [i liked luv buzz, though].

that said, ive caught him live twice this year [once before a barn, once before a festival crowd], he killed it both times, and im lookin forward to catchin him again.  his gathering performance had him lookin about as motivated and into it as ive ever seen him.

ive picked on esham before for fallin off, but truth is, i wanna see him return to his potential greatness.  if it happens that greatness comes along with him fuckin around with psychopathic for the tenth time, so much the better.  probably.

furious was not and is not a timeless classic.

but it is and was a fairly unique album, with its own style.  just didnt snap together like they probably thought it would.

I'd have to listen to the SV album again.  But I remember it being pretty dope and liking it back in the day.

With Esham, everything from Boomin thru Tongues is classic (including Natas).  All those Venue fly traps, DMT sessions, Suspended Animation ect were not my taste.  Have not listened to that Scribble album yet.....but I'm assuming its pretty much the same.

Mastamind in SV would be super cool!!

Since A1-Yola he's been kinda slowly reverting back to the old "Unholy Black Devil" style persona.

I've heard his releases since he got sober [Dichotomy, Scribble, Dead Of Winter] and he's been slowly heading back to the acid rap style people remember him more and more for. And you can hear he actually gives a damn for the first time in about a decade or so.

I'm looking forward to seeing what drops from this SV reunion. If Lavel's all in then awesome. There's one more huge event for ICP before Hallowicked to drop more flavor [Starrcast in Chicago during #AllIn weekend] on this or other big announcements so we'll just have to wait and see. If Lavel ain't in, I'll stick by my guns and say Mastamind would be a more than worthy candidate to join the Villainz

"Conquer" & "Soopa Doopa" are examples of SV tracks done right/well..

Psy. & E will most likely come with an entirely/generally new style for the new SV project tho..

Never cared for SV. Lavel is whack. I don't care if he comes back. I kinda hope he doesn't.

Mastamind would be cool.

E and J by themselves would be better.

Silence of the Hams was my favorite track by them. Js flow goes buck wild.

I'm excited for this. Furious had a unique sound, like nothing else in the PSY catalogue. Even if it wasn't great, it was good. Really cool production. Short, fast songs. I liked Shaggy in his role as the chorus/scratching guy. I always thought it was a shame that these songs were never performed live, so that's what I'm most excited about.

There were a few things about the project that didn't work for me. The card suits felt kinda lame and tacked on. The comic book style illustrations were terrible, idk if Shaggy did them or what, but that was a blown opportunity. And most of all, Lavel, I didn't like any of his raps and I hated his "I fuck bitches, I hate faggots!" gimmick, sooooooo lame and retrograde. Esham's black power dude in a group with two white guys also made no fucking sense, but whatever, Esham's dope hoe.

Anyway I hope it's just ICP and E, just as the group was first announced back on Shangri-La, adding Lavel to the record was a very Lotus/Marz-style move. If they make new music, cool, if they just perform Furious at GOTJ every year or two, that's cool too. I loved when E was on Psychopathic b/c you could actually find his CDs in stores (not really as relevant anymore) and because he was making tons of music with J and everybody else, e.g. he was all over PFOS2 and it was great. I get the impression he's not going to sign with PSY again, which is fine, but I'm glad they're back on good terms (for now), touring together, making music together, etc.

tl;dr

With The Orchard family of labels behind RLP, na he's not gonna sign back to psychopathic. Which is why if there is a reunion ep or album. It's most likely going to be a Reel Life release.

Imo, it should just be ICP/Esham. Make it a two part album and do one on RLP, one on PSY.

^Shaggy reppin' that Thundercats logo like a dope nerdy gangsta! HA HA so good...

Once again I'm excited for the potential of what an SV album could be...pretty much all those SV tracks leading up to Furious were awesome and it sucked that Furious was overall a let down for me too.

But there was still plenty of gold in there as well for me. List of Demands, Pussy, Mr Club, Hook Up The Cut & Black Plague.

I didn't hate the Card theme but I also wouldn't miss it or wouldn't be pissed if they brought it back either.

I don't know what I want from this album, I guess I'm just looking forward to potentially some more of that E & J magic if they can catch it again...

I loved all the tracks they did on The Shining more than anything on Furious so if they come up with more of that shit, I'll be pre-ordering that shit with the quickness!

If they're planning on doing a new album, I say forget the whole "Mr. ____" gimmicks and just go back to the pre-Furious style SV tracks. Shit like Migraine Headache, P-p-p-pow, the track on Shangri-La, Conquer, Silence Of The Hams, etc. That shit was way better than the mediocre Furious imho.

Man I hope They can get Mr. Heart back in the group, Lavel is the shit, I was really hoping back in the day that Psychopathic would sign him but whatever his albums are still dope... He fucked killed it live when I saw him open up for Twiztid's freek show tour, same with Mastamind...

if there is a replacement, fuck yeah Mastamind would be perfect. TheMindzi is a perfect flawless album in my opinion, one of those rare gems in hip hop that you can listen to from start to finish with out wanting to skip any bullshit, and of course he always kicked the wicket shit in NATAS, it would be interesting to hear him with SV

but... I'm fuckin' cool with Soopa Villainz being just Esham, Shaggy and J like it was back in the day... even just the E & J tracks are fucking golden... either way I can't wait to hear the new shit... Slow Your Roll and I Shot the DJ are my favorite Villainz songs, always bump that shit... and shaggy is Dope as Mr. Club... I loved Mr. Spade's militant black panther style too, that shit is dope...

J was fucking sicc on the Silence of the Hams song haha... there's definitely some Dark Carnival magic happening when E and J get together
