I have always wondered how small “record labels” “Sign” artists. Do you have a lawyer write out a contract and everything, or is it like asking a girl out in middle school where you circle “yes” or “no”?

the paper doesnt fuck you, you fuck yourself when you sign it.  the one thing all those dumbfuck musicians stuck in bad contracts have in common is that they chose to sign a bad contract.  that is their fault.  

aspiring musicians:  unless your dream is to someday be like the warlock [unpaid and pestering people on a single website for attention], then ignore his horrible advice, start learning a thing or two about the music business [you know, the business youre supposed to be in], and handle your paperwork.  get a manager, an agent, and especially an entertainment lawyer.  

if you end up in a business dispute with no written contract, your case will proceed as follows:

the court will fluff his robes and say, “who put up the money?  oh, you put up the money?  you win.  next case.”

you can say im an asshole, but the fact remains:  you aint shit, you aint been shit, and you definitely aint got any room to offer up business advice to any musician, whatever their experience level.
