I give zero shit’s about Krizz
all he is is a glorified hype man
I really hoped he was gone for good so Tech could write a song without that fat bitch having to be on stage with him for once
Krizz would be better off on the voice or the masked singer let his career go somewhere else

Jokerr called all of this. A long time ago.
Krizz, Dame and Funk Volume, all of it.
He called Kutt leaving before he did, too.
I’m not a Jokerr fan by any means, but that fucking song is monumentally catchy. I absolutely love it. I find myself playing it a lot when I am intoxicated. Along with the Tech N9ne apology track.
Regardless, I disagree with y’alls opinions. I think he is supremely talented and a perfect fit for Strange Music. To me he is like an independent rapper version of Cee-Lo.
As far as Strange goes, I only really listen to Mayday, Tech, Krizz and Ces Cru. Also Brotha Lynch when he was still there. Never loved Rittz or Kutt or Scoob or anyone else really.
I still have friends who think the whole thing was a PR stunt.

Don’t get me confused, I don’t mean talent. I mean career trajectory. Personally, into Krizz is MORE talented than tech N9ne is. He just has a career cap because he’s on strange.
It’s a blessing and a curse for him IMO.
I haven’t really enjoyed anything from strange in a while. It all feels too much like assembly line factory formula music to me. Which is great for a business but bad for creativity.

I understand. Every record label has it’s ways. I didnt quite understand this as first as a teen. I wondered why more dope underground artists never went to Psychopathic, it was because Psy only wants a certain type of format. They build cool (mostly) characters out of certain talented personalities and present them in what someone else described as a WWF fashion. And the formula works often.
Strange is like that as well. People may say that MNE or Strange or fucking Def Jam have more or less creative freedom than the next one, but they all more or less set limits and recommendations. Which is fine. We may not have ever heard certain people otherwise.
Tech even admitted back in the day that Krizz was more talented. He could be bigger with the right push from the right backing. I like him where he is but there is no way to peer into an alternate dimension where he has a different fate. Just gotta ride the wave.
Ultimately, hoping he puts out something dope soon.

Idk about setting limits, but probably. I think Brotha Lynch was fairly unique among his crew and the only limits I heard were censorship ones. But there are tons of independent artists that have always been formulaic in the same way Strange is. Most hip hop is very formulaic, especially in this scene. Tech typically has at least something that does or tries something cool that falls out side of the formula and it’s usually one of his darker and operatic songs. Less and less often these days but it’s still there sometimes. I don’t think it’s forced and I think in house producers is probably the biggest reason why labels tend to have a sonic formula or song structure formula.
I don’t think being signed to Strange is what hinders Krizz. It’s them consistently keeping him next to Tech. Which was absolutely what kick started his career but now all it’s doing is stagnating him. Most of his albums weren’t going to reach far beyond being Tech’s sidekick but GO definitely could have had a much bigger reach if he was marketed a bit differently.
Ultimately, I don’t think most of these underground labels are really hindering artists from trying something new or different. Formulas are just easy to fall into especially if artists are scared of trying something new. At the end of the day most artists are still trying to make money and the fear of not being able to make money off of an idea will always push artists into doing what they know will make them money. Or it’s a lack of creativity.

Formulas aside… I find that everything Tech does sounds the same. I know that’s a shallow statement without context but he sometimes releases 2 project a year. If he was putting out and album every couple years then I dont think it would bother me too much.
That said, I think its beyond impressive that he can make all that effort to get all those super diverse features, (like Kendrick Lamar, Corey Taylor, Eminem, Serj Tankian, Roger Troutman, Chino) and still manage to make everything sound the same.
I was hoping Krizz was off Strange. It would maybe have helped them both find a new sounds and experiment a bit.
For the record, im not trying to upset anyone here. Dont want no E-Beef round here. I know this is a touchy subject. I said something similar on Instagram a while ago and got literal death threats. Good times.

Yeah, ICPs albums are very formulaic
Intro
Title Track
Clowny Style Flex song (In Yo Face, Get Clowned, Hokus Pokus)
Societal Critique
Sex Song
Comedy Track
Psuedo-Deep closing track
Throw in a weed track and you have yourself a Twiztid album.

I always joke about how Tech can manage to rap over any genre and still make it sound like every other Tech song.

I agree with old Twiztid albums but these days, I have no idea what a Twiztid Album sounds like. Just a load of random sounding songs with some filler here and there. Everything they’ve put out since Abominationz has sounded like a bunch of songs thrown together.
Im not even saying all the songs are bad but their albums don’t feel complete anymore.

I wanted to debate this. Then I looked through their MNE albums again and well … You’re right.

Just one of my catchphrases, I guess. I like to remind people that polka exists.

This is the main reason that I dont buy any MNE Twiztid albums. None have caught my attention enough, nor have had a higher ratio of Good:Bad songs to win me over.
There have been good and very good tracks, but not enough. Even this track
is great, but honestly it is the gentleman singing the chorus that I like. Not Twiztid or Caskey. You could have put Kid N Play on there, or Randy Savage and Big Bird, and it would still be a cool and deep song with that music and chorus.
Like “Monster” by Boondox. That chorus sample works for any rapper to rap next to it.
Okay, if I had the time and care to sit down, and listen to every single Twiztid or featuring Twiztid track on their Majik Ninja label, and pick out the best 15 songs to form a cohesive and dope album, I would buy it. I’m sure it would be good enough to warrant $16. But as was mentioned, too much filllller.
