lets derail a thread!

I find kendrick lamar overrated. i just didnt get the hype on good kid MAAD city, and i haven't listened to much of to pimp a butterfly yet but what i have heard is good but nothing spectacular. the beats catch me the most. they are pretty cool.

@chris - if tech n9ne, lil wayne, 2 chainz, and ti all had no singles or videos and very low album sales, would that make them okay in your book?

nope, because musically i still dont like them

so, what bugs you is not techs popularity or fans, but rather, that you didnt like the music.

why are you complaining about this mainstream, techs-a-sellout stuff?  its not even the issue, and it doesnt really exist, anyway.

  awfully paranoid, arent you?

I like his voice and his delivery and his beats. His beats are definitely what catch my attention the most. His voice is strangely unique and usually matches perfectly with the beats.

I just now started listening to his solo stuff and it's great. Plus, I watched this interview he did and he said some very Twiztid type things when it comes to fans coming up to him with scarred wrists talking about how he saved their lives.

oh, i actually agree with some of what you speak.  im just outside the bubble from which you are speaking it.

i havent even clicked on the various tech singles n shit that get posted here for... i dunno.  months, a year, two.

havent been 'actively' listening to tech for even longer than that.  last album of his i have is everready.

the reason i am so critical is because music is one of my big passions, i have over 4 Tbs of music on my computer and i listen to almost every genre(except for country) and i scrutinize music pretty closely. Maybe i have just gotten incredibly bored of hearing him turn 90% of his verses into sex references, to me it lacks creativity

K.O.D. is my shit though.

When I say it's my shit, I mean I wrote and produced that album in my mind and he stole it from me. Yes, I did write a song about Tech's Momma's sickness shaking my faith in god. In my mind.

Maybe you lack the creativity to appreciate sex references. Ever think about that?

shit like that contributes to my lackadaisical attitude about tech albums.

but it also makes him dough.  i cant hate on him for doin what hes doin, if it works for him.

can, however, stop myself from buyin his albums, if i dont want to bump the tunes.

techs live show, by the way, is as much fun as it ever was.  when i thinks tech, i thinks about that.

Tech N9ne made two songs about his penis.

I just realized this, and I think it's funny.

I kind of agree about the lacks creativity thing. Not particularly the sex references, I can take or leave those but I think he's making music a LOT faster now and thus, a lot of what he does sounds rushed and lacks the creativity and unique flow that made me like the dude in the first place.

I don't agree about the "mainstream" thing though. Mainstream v Underground went out the window with Napster, man. After that initial "oh shit, the music industry just changed" rush, that line got way to blurry to like or dislike someone based off of who they work with or if they get radio play or whatever. Do you think Tech worked with Wayne because he wanted to or because he felt he had to?

Also, man, get some fucking country in your life. A lot of it is bad but there's some solid shit. For example:
