Tech N9ne has set July 30 as the release date for his blockbuster Something Else album. The high-powered collection is broken up into “Fire,” “Water” and “Earth” sections and features legendary guests from different genres and different eras, including music icons The Doors, rap superstars Kendrick Lamar and Wiz Khalifa, rock maverick Serj Tankian and singer-rapper Cee Lo, among others.
Tech N9ne collaborated with the remaining members of The Doors on “Strange 2013,” a reworking of The Doors’ “Strange Days” that was one of the last recordings The Doors’ founding member, Ray Manzarek, made before he passed away in May. In a June 24 RollingStone.com feature, Tech N9ne says that The Doors’ music saved his life and that The Doors’ songs “People Are Strange” and “Strange Days” are the reasons why he named his record company Strange Music. “If I didn’t listen to their music and their fusion of sounds, I probably would’ve never called [my label] Strange Music,” Tech said to Rolling Stone. “I have Jim Morrison to thank for that.”
The rest of Something Else is equally remarkable. “That’s My Kid” featuring Cee Lo, Big K.R.I.T. and Kutt Calhoun has Tech N9ne explaining how he gave up his life in the streets in order to be a better father. Elsewhere, Tech N9ne teams with Kendrick Lamar, !MAYDAY¡ and Kendall Morgan for “Fragile.” On this spirited selection, Tech N9ne delivers a dazzling, tongue-twisting rap blasting all of his critics, while Kendrick Lamar details how he pours his heart and soul into his lyrics.
Today, Tech N9ne releases the Drumma Boy-produced single “See Me,” which features Wiz Khalifa and B.o.B. Tech N9ne sings and raps on the cut about how he gets overlooked by many despite his remarkable accolades – selling more than 2 million units independently, headlining the longest tour in rap history and owning hip-hop’s most powerful, truly independent record company, among them. Something Else will be available for pre-order on iTunes July 2. Fans who purchase a copy of the album in advance will instantly receive the song “So Dope (They Wanna).” The lyrically intense tune is in the vein of Tech N9ne’s revered “Choppers” series of songs that pair him with fellow top-tier rappers who deliver dizzying flows with remarkable clarity.
Tech N9ne will also be the lead music feature in this week’s print edition of Billboard Magazine, on-stands June 28.

man, that song fucking sucks.
There's a gateway in our minds
That leads somewhere out there, far beyond this plane
Where reptile aliens made of light
Cut you open and pull out all your pain

i still dont quite understand whats the difference between the different flavors, they dont look that much different to me other than a few tracks on each one….i dont think that shit icp started with the might death pop album was that cool artists should only come out with one album packed to the max with different content and priced whatever it needs to be….must be mad profitable for them though….and u three guys ocj, prj, and slum just all agreed that, that track sux….well as much as i hate mainstream faggot soulless sellouts myself would u guys still be saying that if everything about it sounded exactly the same but except the two featured artists being whiz khalifa and b.o.b. were two no names instead???? like 4 real think about it cuz thats what ran thru my mind as i read all ur posts

i have no problem with either B.o.B. and Wiz Khalifa. i may not listen to either one. i just dont like the track. I thought even tech was terrible on that track. it was just imo a bad track all together.
i also dont care if an artist is mainstream or underground(both of those terms are a joke in my book)
i like that song

that was an interesting statement u made about the mainstream and underground words being jokes in ur book….to me those define a fine line between two sides of the hip hop world 4 real their major words to me….and that was an interesting answer to my question also….and even more also what does imo stand for? i keep seeing it pop up and yet to learn its definition…

Mainstream = major label
Underground = independent label

hahaha well yea thats one way of simplifying it….i guess in my mind all artists signed to a major label is like a different species than ones signed to an underground label….it just has to with how differently their all exposed and how much the mainstream ones r limited to doing….i guess just realized its my own mental way of looking at and thinking about the hip hop world….

B.O.B has some amazing songs
His problem is that for every deep, more thoughtful track he makes a handful of asinine pop rap songs with terrible guest features
onto this song, fucking horrid
“the ladies pop the monkey,they drop the donkey,they want to flunk me,my songs be funky”……..that is literally one of the insipid things i have ever heard from him
every album i keep HOPING for something that i grab onto about his music, and it just isnt there anymore, it seems that past Everready he just started lazier and lazier each album, till now hes down to 4 Songs made in different variations “i’m the shit”, “I Fuck Pussy”,”I Party”,”I’m So Different From Everyone Else”……….its just really grating to hear the same content on every song
